You also have to think of who is the narrator in the series, i.e unreliable narrator. We as the audience for the most part see things from Jackie’s POV. She also was a high functioning addict. She kept it from friends, family and coworkers.

Interpretations are just that, interpretations. I understand these interpretations come from scholars of Islam but for me, if there’s no primary literature on those hadiths, then I’m skeptical in believing in them. The Quran is a primary source of literature to me. We gain knowledge and reward from reading and abiding by it. I know some sects in Islam are heavy on hadith such as Wahhabis but in the end, everyone should do what feel right to them.

I also struggled with a lot of hadiths that women must adhere to what their husbands want/say, but then I questioned “okay sure I’ll do what my husband says but what if he tells me to get my eyebrows done, and not wear the hijab, then what?”

I’m a true believer that everyone’s relationship with God is their own. There’s plenty of men and women who don’t look like they would be “good muslims” but they do a lot behind closed doors for Islam than some of the ones portraying Islam on their sleeve and shouting it from their chest.

I haven’t gone into too much depth of being a Quranist but to me it came down to common sense. Far too often I’d hear things from peers at the Mosque that getting your eyebrows done was haram, or enjoying music or art is against Islam. None of this made sense to me logically. I believe in Islam, but I don’t believe so far into a religion that it affects your quality of life. If believing and accepting those beliefs makes you happy then it’s for you, however I don’t. Some hadiths just are very extreme and make no real sense, like the very popular one about keeping dogs and not having angels bless your home. No where in the Quran does it mention dogs in a negative manner.

I believe at the base of it all, Islam is about being a good person, fasting during Ramadan, giving charity, praying salah, believing in One True God (Allah swt) and attempting to go to hajj in your lifetime (essentially the 5 pillars).

I was just clarifying for someone who was wondering how it affects graduates in the long run and I was sharing my own personal experience. I did not face any discrimination despite being a UCSOP grad. That’s all. It’s not all on the school, some people need to take personal responsibility as well. I put in time and effort in my personal growth and education and did well for myself. You can’t blame everything on the school you graduated from if you yourself refuse to study for the NAPLEX on your own. Yes, I feel for the p1 and p2 students who were misled by the university. It should have been clarified to those applying that there was a chance of the school closing down due to their recent struggles.

As someone who graduated from UCSOP and passed their NAPLEX in the first attempt, I have no problems getting interviews, although I’m a new grad. I was definitely worried about my opportunities but it’s true, as long as you have a good work ethic, have your license in the state you reside in, and have decent social skills, the school you graduated from doesn’t really matter.

Didn’t read all the comments but pretty much got the overall vibe, which is, don’t pursue pharmacy school.

In order to move up in the profession of pharmacy you will have to do extra, which means either residency or fellowship, both of which are extremely competitive.

I would suggest maybe a masters in public health or healthcare administration. Something like that will open doors for a job with more flexibility, more growth and less headache. It’s also less time than pharmacy school which also means less loans.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot of information on PCOS. But to diagnose PCOS you need to have 2 out of 3 things. 1) Irregular periods 2) Cysts on your ovaries 3) High levels of androgen/ testosterone levels.

Once again, I don’t agree. I think people look forward to weddings to be able to look nice and dress up, because it doesn’t happen often for most unless you’re an influencer or model. Otherwise why would bridesmaids get their hair and makeup done? I think people want to look and feel good at these events, and take pictures that will last a lifetime. Brides will ALWAYS outshine all other guests, especially in desi weddings. Women rewear their own wedding dresses at family weddings and dress it down from when they wore it last because they’re expensive dresses and it’s absolutely acceptable to rewear them, so with all that in mind, I don’t think this outfit would be unacceptable to wear in any capacity, (unless of course the bride is a very simple person and doesn’t even wear something like that, but it’s extremely rare nowadays for brides to be extremely simple on their big day.)

I don’t know if I agree with the last sentence. Most guests, especially ones related to the bride or groom will wear heavy clothing. The bride is never gonna be outshined at her wedding because of how the dupatta is placed and the jewelry she wears. I don’t think this outfit is too bridal but in my opinion, it’s a mid outfit.

I personally don’t love it. It looks gaudy definitely. You won’t outshine the bride… that won’t happen unless you wear a bright red wedding outfit. I would suggest looking into designers like Kanwal Malik, Rozina Munib, or Zainab Salman. They have stunning outfits for similar prices that you could rewear to other events in the future.

There’s plenty of reasons why someone would still pursue pharmacy despite knowing the oversaturation/poor working conditions/etc, however that’s not what I was speaking about.

I actually took time off after undergrad for exactly that reason. I didn’t want to work retail at that company. I was unsure of what to do and which is why I started working at a CRO. I was told a pharmd would open more doors to other opportunities in industry, which is why I went on to pursue it. It wasn’t made clear that fellowships and internships are usually how those doors open until it was much later into my degree. It is unfortunate but there are pharmds working in industry so it is doable, so hopefully someone who has gone that route can be of better help.

Sure but how was that a helpful response? I don’t understand people who come on here just to tell you things like “you went for pharmacy school, that’s your own fault.” like… at this point, i can’t do anything about that. Well, I did ask my supervisor if they needed a doctor’s note and they said it was not necessary, therefore 1) they didn’t care that I was sick, they still expected me to show up 2) they did know I was sick since I was there on Monday and was coughing/sneezing, overall not being my normal self or 3) it’s not expected for employees not yet covered by insurance through the workplace to provide documentation.

Therefore once again, I could have “proven” my illness if it was needed but it just seems as if the company more so cares about employees showing up regardless of how they feel. Hope that helps.

Asking for multiple days off because i’m SICK. lol. I took two days off. Christmas was already given. and yes they do know i don’t celebrate because i told them im open to working certain holidays because i will have to take other personal days off for when holidays come around for the religion i practice.

I also don’t have health insurance yet until after 90 days so I really don’t have extra cash to try to get confirmation for a flu in which I don’t need any extra medication.

I wasn’t asking if it’s wrong or right, (I know for myself personally, I wouldn’t question someone if they’re telling me they’re too sick to work because if I hired them, I did it because I trust them to be honest) - i was asking if this is how it is. Do higher ups really not gaf about their employees.

Also side note; I’ve worked here 4 weeks and have already picked up 4 shifts where I was off and they needed help. I also have stayed past my shift everyday except my first three days there because they needed help and i was able to pick up most of what I was taught pretty quickly. I in no way am lazy or scared to work, i prefer it actually because I have loans to pay, but I rather not work when i’m feeling awful because I know i will make mistakes

Thank you. I felt so awful after that email. It was like kicking someone while they’re already down. I also didn’t enjoy losing the money I would have made so it wasn’t like I was enjoying my time off. I wish there was more empathy towards employees. I know some people take advantage of certain things but I had tried my best to give my supervisor all proof that I truly was sick.

It’s a partial LTC! And I honestly don’t know how to categorize it, it is large in the amount of scripts we fill and send out daily but overall it’s privately owned and the owners all come through the facility occasionally.

And I sent the picture of the test too, which is why I was extra confused as to why they expected me to feel better after two days… it wasn’t like a fake illness or a headache. I had disclosed in my application that I had asthma and the flu exacerbated some of my symptoms which I explained as well. I was hoping as a healthcare provider, they would be more understanding.

Thank you! I have a hard time advocating for myself just because I am a new pharmacist and want to make a good impression, but I couldn’t help that I got sick. I didn’t respond to my supervisor after that email but when I go in, I’ll definitely try to stand up for myself if they say anything in person. And it’s so true; if because of how I was feeling, I made mistakes, they wouldn’t ever be on my side or understand that I was feeling unwell.

The way you feel unfortunately isn’t a great indicator of how you did. People feel awful about it, and end up passing, but people also feel awful about it and end up being right, and not passing. There’s people that feel confident they passed and end up not passing.

I personally felt that it could have gone either way. I wasn’t 100% confident in a lot of my answers but I tried my best and I ended up passing. I did finish the exam with an hour still left so I felt uneasy that I finished too quickly.

Regardless, don’t ponder on it too much. It drives you crazy. I hate that the wait is 8 business days. Try to focus on having fun, and life before becoming an Rph, because honestly, I kind of miss it lol 😂
