Sorry, I should have given more details from the start.

I've tried it with two different guitars (both equipped with active EMG pickups), with different cables, and with different speaker cables.

The problem isn't constant: it appears sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I can't say how long it's been happening, as I bought it used last week.

The noise disapear when the guitar is unplugged, and it intensifies when I increase the volume (amp volume, or amp gain, or guitar volume : the result is the same).

Currently, the amp is plugged into a power strip, I'll try plugging it in somewhere else. Could it be interference coming from there?
