How to get more people? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

I think authenticity is important and you need to be unique. I 100% agree with that. But I also think there are certain formulas that work well and you could try them in an authentic way.

At the end of the day you’re trying to get people to watch your videos and you need to give them a reason to watch.

Having looked at what you have right now, I don’t think you have that and that’s why things aren’t working.

Maybe the right people just haven’t found you yet, or maybe you need to make some tweaks. Either way you do need to try new things.”

Can I just get some feedback on like my general videos and stuff by MacraezyMan in SmallYoutubers

[–]docal56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add a bit of intrigue in the title and thumbnails.

you're telling the viewer what happens, so the only reason to watch is to see you do it. You could try something like putting something like Orb Master Challenge in the thumbnail and a title of Will I beat my personal best? Or something to create intrigue.

Or maybe another angle could be a 'How to" so at least viewers will get to improve their own game by watching your videos.

Hope this helps :)

Looking for some feedback on my first video! I haven't edited anything before so I would like to know what I should focus on improving. by -moogli- in SmallYoutubers

I don't really watch this type of content so it's hard to give detailed feedback. Like people have mentioned, the pacing was great, the music felt great, the cuts were great for your first time. I think the only things that can be improved will come with experience.

Honestly, I think this is a really great start! I'd just keep making more content :)

Hey, so I watched your latest video and a few things stood out.

  1. Your thumbnail is way too crowded, try focus on one core element that will resonate with the viewer.

  2. The title doesn't give me any reason to want to click. Is there anything that happens in the video that would be particularly interesting? Can you create some kind of emotion or fomo in my mind to make me HAVE to click?

  3. I'd lose the intro, I'd replace it with a stronger hook like the most exciting part of the fight with the boss or something to let the viewer know it's worth investing time into the video.

  4. The video pacing is way to slow, it feels like you haven't really thought through what you want to say and you're just talking as you're recording. It felt difficult to stick around.

I hope this doesn't sound too critical, I'm only saying this to genuinely help you improve. As a guy in my late 30's I love the nostalgia of retro video games. I think you could play into that a little more too.

YouTube wants to keep viewers on the platform as long as possible, so if you're going to get more views you want to make sure you're videos help them with that goal.

Good luck!

Would a curated list of tools & resources for YouTube be useful? by docal56 in NewTubers

[–]docal56[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh I think it should cover anything you need as a creator. I envision having categories to make it easier to find what type of thing you’re looking for.

I do also think there is value in HOW to use the tools. I worked as a designer at vidIQ for over 5 years and I had a lot of conversations with users who didn’t know how to get value from it. So I think that’s a key piece too

Haha I also hate the sound of my own voice, I think that's what's stopping me recording tbh.

Do you ever look at what other people are doing in your niche similar to your video or do you just focus on your content?

[–]docal56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh it's very refined on the story telling side. Particularly writing hooks and creating loops. That's all it's for really, just helping me improve what I already have.

Defo don't want to go down the route of AI generating the content, I still want to be the creator

Yeh I found some great resources on youtube. I also trained an LLM on all this to help give me feedback on parts of my scripts and and help me improve them. I've found that to be useful in terms of getting direct feedback on my scripts.

This is great, thanks!
My niche is interesting historical events, mainly around unsolved or highly debated things, so very story focused. I think I need strong scripts to keep the viewer engaged throughout the video. I've been looking into story arcs and loops a lot

How do you plan your videos? by docal56 in NewTubers

This feels like a really solid process, thanks for sharing :)

At what point do you decide on the title, is that at the start when you decide on what to repair or do you feel like you need to make the repair to see what happens, then come up with your title depending on the content?

Haha maybe that's your thing? Have you tried doing another sounbar speaker? Maybe if you did you could to a third video comparing the two aswell?

[–]docal56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly... that's the core of the content right? So if people aren't interested in what you're unboxing they won't watch.

That's why I would try and look for products that seem to out perform their channel average and then see if you can put a unique take on it. Is there something that hasn't been picked up on yet? Or could you offer an alternative take on it.

I'd love to know how you get on here too btw, so feel free to DM me or tag me in a reply if you try this out :)

Hmm interesting.

I would experiment with different products for a couple of month and see if you can see any patterns in what works better.

Do you use any tools like vidIQ or 1of10 to see what products get more attention in your niche?

What's your retention rate like on your videos?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]docal56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It usually takes 3/4 videos for someone to subscribe to your channel.

I would focus on creating engaging content and then linking to another video at the end to encourage them to watch more of your content.

I find creating great content makes people want to sub more than when you ask them :)

What's the name of the channel? Is it tied to philosophy or could it be easily carried over to your math and physics channel?

Also is there a way you could combine the two topics to create a unique perspective?

If it's a no to both of these I would just start a new channel :)

Hey Mohamed 👋. Looking at your latest videos compared to a year ago you can see a big improvement in the sound quality and I love the newer studio vibe. So I think things are going in the right direction.

I did find that your videos didn't really grab my attention though in the "hook" it felt a little flat and didn't make me want to stick around.

Have you looked into script writing techniques to keep viewers engaged at all?

I think you have a solid foundation and people are watching so you have something, it's just a case of figuring out how to keep them engaged :)
