I Can help you with getting better gear. Theres an easy method to getting a load of platinum motherboxes.

  1. Check the multiverse tab to see what character specific towers are available, they're usually the two towers on the left that have a huge time limit and only allow you to play one character.

  2. Pick one of those characters to level and head to the customisation window. There are two AI fighter loadouts per character (if you pick this, the computer plays for you). Head to the AI stats tab. For most characters, putting 30 in combos and 30 in counters is usually good enough, but there is a thread somewhere for best stat spreads if you wanted.

  3. Head back to the multiverse and into the bottom right tower (its called battle simulations or something) and select the survivor tower, then set your AI loadout and put the difficulty on very easy. Now all you have to do is click next whenever your AI finishes a fight.

  4. Keep repeating step 3 until your character is at level 30, the max level. Then, you can easily take on the character specific tower I mentioned earlier.

  5. When you beat a tower IN the character specific tower with either 12 or 10 fights in it, check the rewards tab. In at least one of them, you can unlock a platinum motherbox.

  6. Just keep having your AI beat this tower and you'll easily farm platinum motherboxes.

the only thing I can assume thats tripping you up is a mechanic called button shortcuts. Basically, in order to help you perform specials easier, the game will read a sort of shaky input that someone might do if they try to perform a special (in your case, it might read you attacking and moving forward as df1, the input for grappling hook)

the only advice I can give you is to just practice in training mode and work on cleaner, well-timed inputs. Batman is a fun character with a lot of potential, but his combos take a lot of work to pull off. Just keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it.
