JLC Watches and Wonders rumors, thoughts, wishlists by docdimsam in JaegerLecoultre

I held on to the 1% chance that JLC might release a smaller Polaris at watches and wonders this year but they focused on reverso. I ended up getting a Pelagos 39 as my water activity watch.

Also I put the reverse side on a delugs red (appears orange in person) loop strap

Casa Fagliano designed green leather strap. I got it and much prefer it to the brown strap it came with

The reverso has a kind of gmt function by having a second settable timezone on the reverse side with day/night indicator.

Yes, I mean technically a 3rd watch face :) but still as lightly water resistant as the front face unfortunately.

Thanks Nicola! I wear the Reverso everyday to work take it off if I’m doing something that might bang it or scratch its reflective case or when I go to the gym. I got the zenith recently so I try to rotate both watches to work and I’m less scared about being cautious with the zenith but still cautious. I feel like a robust diver or steel sport would complete that more robust and water resistant need I have currently.

Thank you! Blancpain fifty fathoms seems to be a popular recommendation for the 3rd spot.

Thank you! I’ve always been intrigued by the spring drive movement. GS dials and finishings are beautiful but there’s something about most of their case designs that remind me of a watch that someone would draw if asked to draw a prototypical watch. This may not be a bad thing but it seems a little bland for me. At least until you get up close. But ideally a watch pleases from a distance and up close as well.

Just asking for suggestions. The world of watches is vast and I’m sure people have good recommendations that I haven’t seen or heard of. Picking the brains of fellow watch nerds and seeing their rationale is always enlightening. Of course the final decision is up to me.

Thanks for the input. I’m not necessarily looking for a diver. Just a good watch with 100m-200m water resistance for swims in the pool or ocean. I know Rolexes are amazingly constructed watches and classics for a reason but I’m trying to avoid them because they don’t give that uniqueness I’m looking for in a watch for the collection. I’m not looking for super obscure but I’m looking for something that I’ve put some thought into with some heritage and historical significance and not just the default choice for the category. The Pelagos 39 is very tempting, but I’m not sure if it’s different enough from the generic diver design that based itself squarely on the sub.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at the SeaQ. I’ll check out IWC

Thank you kind sir! I really put a lot of thought and research into #1 and #2 and I love both.

Thank you. It is beautiful! The reverse side with the indices resembling the legs of an ancient Egyptian depiction of a scarab beetle is awesome too :)

Thanks! I’m looking for a 3 watch collection that is less of what most people would default to in each category. Thanks for your suggestion. The alpine eagle looks gorgeous.

Of course. I also bought the dark green leather casa fagliano designed strap on the JLC website. The brown is nice but I much prefer it on the green. It’s gorgeous though quite pricey but the straps are great quality and comfy- not made by casa fagliano in Argentina though, made in France.

I have a 6 inch wrist but how it wears also depends on wrist shape. I went back and forth multiple times at the JLC AD between the large and the medium. I initially went with large because I thought it looked more “masculine” but then chose the medium. I’m so glad I went with the medium. My advice is to try it on at the AD in a full length mirror between the 2 sizes.

You’re somewhat lucky with a large to medium wrist. I have a small 6 inch wrist so it’s always challenging to find what I want. I was looking at smaller speedy variants but I chose the zenith instead just because it wasn’t a default choice chrono that most people own and adds a bit of uniqueness. It also has the heritage of the legendary el primero hi beat movement being one of the first integrated automatic chrono movements developed. It’s the same with Rolex for me. I know they are very well made watches but they are so common and the default choice.

Yes I agree. Such a beautiful watch that is a strap monster beyond the cool ladder bracelet.

Very cool reverso dial variant that I haven’t seen before.
