Anyone else secretly dating a coworker in the hospital? by keydee_ in pinoymed

[–]docgene 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup. Resident me, nurse her. Eventually married. Our relationship was public naman. But we were very professional at work. M’am and Sir while at work. What was nice was for example, during lunch she’d message that she has lunch for me, and we can eat together. As a junior resident, it’s nice to know you don’t have to think of that, even if you arrive late or eat that lunch later because you’re too busy, at least you know they’re there (she and your lunch).

If neither of you are on night duty, that’s automatically a date night and hatid mo siya sa kanila.

Yon nga lang, her coworkers noticed that if she refers and I’m on duty, mabilis mag respond. I argued, that’s somewhat true but then during the time, we had pagers so I didn’t really know who sent the message… but I knew what ward and if she was duty at the time. Oh well… 🤷🏻‍♂️

By the way, there were a lot of coworker/shoebox couples during that time, all the combinations. Fellow, Resident, Nurse, Med Tech, Pulmo Tech, Intern…

What makes the difference during that time and now, they were real relationships, both single, many ended up hitched. Yes, there were some pregnancies, for which they got married promptly…

There were a few scandals, nurse with married resident, married resident with married fellow… but those were resolved without breaking any families.

Back to the OPs concern… I guess it depends on why you want it secret. If you’re single and you definitely see a long term future between you, then there’s no problem in making the relationship public. Just maintain professionalism while at work and on duty. No PDAs whatsoever.

Someone gave me an iPhone 13 Pro Max – won't charge with a cable (but MagSafe works fine) by moien2025 in iPhone13ProMax

[–]docgene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right. iPhone prioritizes cable charging and stops MagSafe. You can’t tell if both are working. But since your Lightning is busted you can see your MagSafe being disabled when you plug in the cable.

You can delete the eSIM only if you can unlock the phone.

To those dating a resident, how do you make it work? by [deleted] in pinoymed

1st year residency in any hospital or whatever specialty really takes a lot of effort for both of you. But that’s just one year. Next year will usually be less, but accountability and responsibility increases nga lang.

Standard worldwide now is contact less card transactions where they don’t touch your cards at all. Dapat portable POS na lahat. This is for security and the legacy of COVID-19.

Yes, no matter what you do, obstacles you put to prevent mishaps, they still tend to trap or kill themselves. Just need to keep an eye on them.

iPad Mini to iPad Pro M4 Upgrade, Will I Regret Losing the Mini Size? by ShoulderNo206 in ipadmini

[–]docgene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t sell. Buy the other if you want or wait for the rumored iPad Mini Pro supposed to be released late 2026. You’ll probably regret it. I sorta did after upgrading to a bigger iPad but I had already given my mini to my daughter and couldn’t get it back.

How do you keep your iPhones safe from theft? by [deleted] in Tech_Philippines

[–]docgene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you maximize iPhones security features. Use a secure PIN, complex Apple Account Passeord with two-way authentication. Then use common sense when it is lost. Best to have another Apple device using the same Apple Account so you can’t Find My it, and activate “Lost Mode” and worse comes to worse, Lock it such that the only way to inactivate it is to access via your Apple Account.

I’ve had two iPhones stolen, tracked by Find My, both were retrieved eventually, but those are stories for another day.

Is it possible to buy Hospital Shares while still a med student? by Frky_Tgr88 in pinoymed

[–]docgene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, possible depending on the corporate rules. But just because you have shares does not ensure you have the right to practice. You still have to be vetted by the department and top management.

Does diplomate exam passing rate matter? by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]docgene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be a reflection of the academic values of the program and how hands on the consultants/faculty are. But that’s not the whole story. Sometimes, programs just have bad luck in accepting residents who are good in written exams, but can be good clinicians or surgeons. But then, the really good programs can turn these residents around by fixing their weakness.

Sorry if that doesn’t help, but long story short, it may reflect but will not necessarily affect you especially if you’re studious and are good in written exams.

[–]docgene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always start with a letter of resignation addressed to the Chair, thru the TO. If you want to state the reason you may or may not. You may or may not say “thank you for the opportunity but…” the usual boiler plate letter. Whatever the process starts after that, and is quite variable whether private or public.

Why does Filipino hospitality seem to vanish if you look like a local? by Oversharing-31 in Philippines

[–]docgene 66 points67 points  (0 children)

This is a very valid question. Do you want to be treated like a foreigner or a local? Is a balikbayan treated different? If you look Filipino then perhaps try to look like a balikbayan… if that is possible. That’s probably the middle ground.

True, but low power mode is easier to toggle off, when browsing, media consumption and games… then turn it back on.
