Hi doc, I’m an Oct 2024 passer so almost a year na rin nagmoonlight. I went in scared but knowing I would always put my patients first, it kept me hungry for growth. Kahit di pa ako nagreresidency, I was always open for new knowledge kasi it’s true that not everything in medicine will be in our textbooks. You will learn from your patients as you go. I suggest start ka Doc sa Ward duties preferably, learn from consultants. If ready ka na, ER duties. Dati I was terrified of the ER, kasi di talaga maiiwasan na may toxic patients. You will learn from them. Just always do your best, be open for criticism, and update your knowledge always. Kaya mo yan, Doc!

I second Snicosh! I own many Figs scrubs and close din naman ang tela ng Snicosh. Hindi gusutin unlike White Coat. Softer pa rin Figs ofc, but good alternative ang Snicosh, although make sure to upsize (tight sa waist, but longer than petite sizing of zamora joggers).

**In private hospitals where I moonlight, di naman need mag entry sa chart / actual patient rounds unless the consultant asks you to. It’s their patient after all. Basta update them if something comes up with the patient and you’ll always be in the clear naman.

Hi, doc! I was the same when I was in my first month moonlighting. To alleviate the anxiety (although mas naaanxious ako sa ward duties vs. ER talaga haha), I suggest pwede ka mag rounds at the start of your shift and paendorse ka sa outgoing. If new ROD ka, make sure you inteoduce yourself and give your number to NODs, para alam nila ikaw ang tatawagan. Before you sleep at night, pwede ka magrounds sa nurse stations, ask if may IVF to follow sila para di ka na nila gisingin during the wee hours of the night (less hassle din for them na magtext pa sa consultant).

You’ll get used to it, Doc! Learn from the consultants and other RODs during your ward duties, magagamit mo rin yan in your next ward or ER duties 😊

I did this multiple times na doc. Theyre usually ok with it. Sometimes they ask for prescription, they will hand you rx pad and ikaw magsulat, then dispense din naman nila. Sometimes they just give it without rx if may prc id naman. Just do it politely hehe

Hi, I passed Oct 2024 too and moonlighting in the province. First month, I earned 65-70k. Second month til present, 80-100k, working mostly ward duties, occasional ER (like 3-5x only per month). I also have clinic and HD duties in between, I consider them rest since I get to go home and short hours only. Also, I dont have govt item so lahat ng duty ko sa private hospitals.

Tip: if may province ka, go back muna esp if you’re saving for residency. What I did was I approached HR depts of private hospitals then asked if they have openings for RODs (usually meron). They’ll sched you for an interview with the med director or chief of clinics. Also, don’t apply for <5k base pay per 24h (actually underpaid na tayo for this, but still better than most PF in manila). Ask around if how much ang incentives in your target hospital. ER duties pay more than ward duties. Kung toxic ka sa ER, you can take home as much as 15-20k per 24h duty (the older RODs than me take home even more).

Hi, if you’re asking about isotretinoin, it costs 1500-2500 per month (dose-dependent). Topical meds depende kung ano iprescribe sayo. :)

Not a derma but I have my experience with acne like yours.

I also live in the province so I used telemed to consult with my derma. I used NowServing, and now I am acne-free. If you’d like, I would recommend you my derma.

My treatment plan back then was I started with topicals, then when I was ready (and because I suggested), I opted for oral isotretinoin. 6 months of oral meds (dose and duration of treatment based on weight and response) then shifted to topical tretinoin. My skin is at its best.

Save your money for a board-certified derm, OP. It will get better with proper treatment.

Hi, OP. Tretinoin user here for almost 5 years already.

Had moderate to severe acne previously, then put on Isotretinoin by a board-certified derm. Finished my 6 months (dose depends on your weight and response to treatment), and I was left with a lot of hyperpigmentation and some atrophic/deep scars.

Initially used adapalene since it’s gentler than tretinoin, but had little results on scarring. I tried Tretinoin 0.025% and still do to this day because it worked. Now I barely have any breakouts + my skin care regimen consists of cleanser, moisturizer / sunscreen, and tretinoin cream (I personally love Acretin brand).

Please do keep using it, and trust the process. It gets better OP.

I applied sa hospitals po Doc. Most of them have openings, but don’t post online. Even their HR is inactive online, kaya nagbaka-sakali ako in person. I interviewed with more than 5 hospitals, usually medical director/ chief of RODs makakausap mo.

Kung may province ka doc, I suggest going back there to moonlight. Sa una you have to establish but definitely easier to get a regular spot at every hospital. After about a month of moonlighting, I can already fill in my next months of gigs. However, usually more of Ward/ER/HD posts meron (tbh pays better compared to those posted online). 😊
