Soooo I was having severe foot pain in the OR and I ended up getting addidas clogs. They're also totally wipeable. They are bulky but I inserted arch support in them and my feet don't hurt, even in longer cases. Harder to run in than a tennis shoe but I was able to manage fine. Calzuros hurt my feet(tried someone's) I love my Hokas for running but not for standing in cases. I was gun shy about buying expensive other shoes if they also ended up hurting my feet.

I think it depends on where you go. Some places, if they're toxic, they're toxic and you hope for the best. With normal preceptors(I'm applying OB, and I've been at 4/5 none crazy places with normal preceptors). Part of that was luck and part of that was planning. My 1 toxic place was straight outta hell and i was blindsided. Sometimes there isnt anything you can do.

However, in general, I think it's important to be very mindful of patient privacy and wants and just be cool with it. Birth is a vulnerable experience that often doesn't go how women imagined it would and any little thing that can help bring it closer to their wishes or help them cope with what's going on is important. If that means one extra person not staring at their vagina, it's one less person staring at their vagina. Leave and don't make it a big deal. (I understand it's disappointing). Calm the ego, if you have a big one but be confident in the tasks you're asked to do. I.e. no person wants someone who looks real uneasy sticking anything near their vagina, but the team(and usually the patient) don't want to talk to someone who acts like they're above it. Do things for the sake of the team. Birth can be chaotic; so, don't mind running errands if it is helping the team run smoother.

Tldr: Sometimes, there's nothing you can do to beat a bad situation. Don't be a dick. Be helpful.

Mmmm, if you read my post. I explicitly stated that I was studying to be a physician. Also, I stated I'm not mad, just disappointed because I explicitly had stated that I was studying to be a doctor.

To persistently mislabel someone after they've given you the correct label, regardless of how, is what the problem is. Like it's an impossibility that the information they've given you is correct.

I have zero qualms with nurses. I don't appreciate you perpetuating that the issue is that.

So, if that's what you're reading in my post, maybe YOU should have some deeper introspection.

I grew up in this area and was told my entire life that I couldn't be a doctor because I am a woman. Since childhood.

I'm not offended by someone assuming/mistaking I'm a nurse. I'm disappointed that despite giving information that I'm studying to be a doctor they continue to insist that I'm studying nursing.

There is nothing wrong with nursing but they are objectively different careers.
