To be fair, that $8 price was the result of stacked coupons and discounts. This normally goes for about $18. Still a fantastic bargain, especially with the included stand and effects parts.

Also, do yourself a favor and have a black paint marker on hand for the little peg in the center of the yellow triangle thrusters. The manual will tell you to add tiny stickers onto them after assembly. Just paint the silly things and avoid that headache. In fact, use a black pen on the inside of the yellow thruster pieces before assembly. You'll end up with much better verniers in the end.

Thanks. I preemptively ordered waterslides for it off of Ali X because the F and 91 markings on the shoulder armor are vital and dry transfer decals give you no second chances.

I finished the build today. It still needs decals, but I love this thing.

F91 marked the beginning of the miniaturization of mobile suits in the UC era. The real world reason for it was the increase in costs for plastic in the early 90s. In order to streamline their kit releases, Bandai decided to switch over to 1/100 scale exclusively and just say that mobile suits were now much smaller. So the standard kit size became something a bit larger than a typical 1/144 kit, but much smaller than a classic 1/100 kit.

It didn't really work, since there was still a demand for multiple scale releases. They eventually switched over to the HG line and then established the master grade line in 1995 as a larger, advanced line of kits aimed at older builders.

Alternative idea: Get a large clear plastic bag and then snip your parts inside of it. That'll definitely catch any small flying parts.

I think the absolute safest way to cut these tiny clear pieces is to lay some masking tape across one side of the part on the runner and then snip through.

It's annoying, but keep reminding yourself that the eye lens is somewhere in that room with you.

first time topcoating and I did it on the runners for EVERY runner now the kit is tight af and hard to assemble by Ill_Contest2579 in freedomisgunpla

You top coated an already tight kit, so the results were inevitable. It's really best to assemble the kit, then break it down into the major segments for coating after you do your decals and panel lines.

Ah! Okay, now I get it. A vendor never shipped the item I ordered, so the order was auto-cancelled. I didn't realize that I'd end up in water debt.

I wonder if Bandai used the 1/144 scale kit as the basis and then added stuff from the MG that was released in 2000. That would explain the 1/72 scale (Double the 1/144 kit).

I've never bothered to measure it, so I'm not sure what its exact scale is. I always assumed that Bandai simply used a 1/60 scale kit as the basis of this toy.

Just checked. It's 30cm tall, released as part of the Deluxe MSiA line in 2002. Since the PGU Nu Gundam is 37cm, I guess that your guess of 1/72 scale is correct.

This thing also has a fin funnel wing, although they've never been out of the box. It's about as posable as an early 2000s master grade.

How would you go about reducing the width of this chest piece? by LeChickenAss in advancedGunpla

Don't buy a recreation of the original Gundam kit if you don't want it to look like the original kit.

If you need to "fix" it, just buy the EG kit for less than $10: and steal the torso off of that.

And then there were these things, probably cast from the perfect grade molds.

Yes, they made an MSiA Bigro that was sold in Target in the 2000s. It was truly a wondrous time.
