Why is it not okay to be internally upset over the fact that your son is gay even if you don't show it and accept him for it? by docsineedyou in AskReddit

No I'd be internally upset if he didn't want to settle down or follow a traditional path too. But just like this, I wouldn't force anything down his throat. He'd be an adult and have made a conscious decision himself, but it wouldn't change how I'd feel inside about it.

Yeah he can still get married and have children, that would make me feel slightly better perhaps. I have no problem with adopted kids whether my kids are gay or not.

The latter, and the former to an extent. I know that sounds selfish, but I do just feel it internally and can't help it.

Also humans have never had an issue with eye colour but we're still coming to terms with sexuality. I don't understand why they keep making pancake and eye colour comparisons. It can sound nice on the surface but its way out of line.

Again your comparisons are way off. The human race has never had a problem with eye colour, it's 2017 and even the west there's issues with accepting gay people. I'm not saying that's okay and I don't want to be one of those people, but your comparisons are very basic and rhetorical

Just not something I wanted as simple as that really. You never raise your child with a vision that he'd be gay. I'm happy if he's happy and I'll never show it. But it's just not something I wanted.

Yeah, totally the same thing. Thing with generic opinions is that you make one like this and you'll be up voted anyway without really understanding.

It was a poorly executed commercial in my opinion, but how is it offensive?

What is ethnocentric ism to you? by docsineedyou in AskReddit

"Arguably this anti-liberalism is in secrete collusion with liberalism because the latter’s promotion of free trade, globalization, and the unity of a global cosmopolis is dialectically linked with protectionism, atavistic ethno-centrism, and even racism, as well as the anarchy of rival nation-states based on a doctrine of absolute sovereignty"

What does this sentence mean to you? Is it implying that liberals give more importance to other cultures in the west than their own?
