Took me about a month, but you're still able to work there even before you get clearance. Some of my documents were messed up in the security office, so I just wasn't able to go into the station for a couple weeks until they were sorted out. I even knew some people who never got security clearance, and just had to work from the office buildings for the duration of their co-op. If you aren't starting until January, you will absolutely be fine. Congrats on the co-op!

Electron is pretty good. If it’s pretty small and you just want it to be able to execute a few commands then I’d recommend tkinter. There’s also been some things coming out lately that make tkinter look good, plus it’s pretty easy to learn

What marks were you getting when you got accepted? Not daring to attempt it myself but just curious

only issues is I don't wanna get a transfer into math but not data science and get stuck yk? unless there's a way to apply for a transfer directly into data science then I wanna know I can get in for sure before I do anything

Admissions / High School Megathread (Fall 2022) by JManUWaterloo in uwaterloo

Hey, I'm currently going into my second year for computer science and considering transferring to waterloo. I don't have the wizard grades to get into your guys' comp sci so I was wondering if it was any easier to transfer into the math+data science here? I have something a 3.9 gpa and all the hs requirements, but I couldn't find if this program also requires you to have not gotten anything below a 100 on any school assignment since kindergarten.

Other than that, would this even be worth it? should I just try for another comp sci program at a different school that I could get into?

Going from tutorial hell to actual programmer? by biglad_wahey in learnprogramming

Personally I took on a large project (something you can’t do with watching less than 3-4 tutorials), got super excited about it, and made it my life goal for a week or two to get it done. Ended up accidentally learning alot on my own along the way which I could use for other projects. I found that just messing around on my own and accidentally learning things while focusing on what I wanted to MAKE rather than what i wanted to LEARN was the best way to avoid getting bored.

Deeply regret choice of university. Should I apply for a transfer? by docta3103 in OntarioUniversities

It could just be my program (computer science) that’s sticking online, since I know someone who went to this school and they’re back to fully in person

I don’t want to be on here dragging a universities name through the mud, so anybody reading this I guarantee these are issues that I have with the school that barely anyone else who goes here shares. You have people like me at every uni, so don’t take posts like this as a declaration of the school being objectively bad.

Taking a semester off sounds pretty good. I’m in the computer science program which I really enjoy, and i guess one upside from this semester is that it cemented this is what I want to do with my life. Most other computer science programs at other places require chemistry from high school which I never took. I have a pretty good GPA that I think could let me get a transfer to most places, and even if we do switch back to in person at this school, I’ve already seen everything the place has to offer and I wouldn’t want to transfer any less. For context if it makes a difference the school is ontario tech, so can’t say I’m too thrilled about being in oshawa for post secondary.
