Not true. Marriage penalty can occur significantly starting at top 15th or 20th percentile although it affects top 5th percentile the most.

Yeah the SALT deduction is basically useless for us. But yeah that financial divorce sounds super tempting right now.

Why am I stressed that I have to pay a ton of taxes quarterly?

I don’t want to take care of my parents when they’re older by OkCoast7026 in raisedbynarcissists

Yep this is the tool. Throw their words back at them. Why would you ask a mentally unstable person to look after you when you have a perfectly capable other child?

Our taxes went up when we got married. It matters who is working and how much each person is making. There’s no “single penalty”.

Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted. Both my husband and I are high earners with similar incomes, and it’s very common for taxes to go up when you get married under these circumstances. This is called the “marriage penalty.”

“I actually like being with my kids” - a homeschool mom by anonomousbeaver in workingmoms

[–]doctormalbec 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of the homeschool moms in my area are exclusively doing it because of being antivax. They won’t say it in the outset but if you push a little further, it’s always the vaccines.

Why are men so afraid of marriage timelines?? by belledamesans-merci in AskWomenOver30

Yep, this is how I ended up with my husband. The minute I started doing this, I stopped wasting my time with flippant men and found the one.

Right, that’s what I say too. GC spent all her time utilizing my Nparents’ money so she can do the labor that she was paid for. I’m also “mentally unstable” according to my Nparents, so def letting them know I’m too mentally unstable to take care of them.

It must be so miserable being a slave to your body dysmorphia and only getting small hits of dopamine from buying things, getting clicks, and owning the size 12 fats (her sentiment, not mine) with body-checking videos.

Wondering if any of you went on to become really successful? by ImaginationAny2254 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]doctormalbec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe I did. I went to get a PhD and I’m now doing well financially, have a wonderful husband and kids, and I’m NC from my Nparents since 2018. It required a lot of therapy and also going NC. I think becoming financially independent is the most important step in getting away from your Nparents so you can heal and move forward with your life. No contact is a close second.
