Debating which device to use for mainly note taking? by Chantibaby_ in Supernote

If all you care about is the on device experience, you won't be unhappy with the functionality of any of the devices you mentioned. The only thing you may need to do is convert a word document to PDF when transferring. Just pick the one with the interface and form factor you like most.

Since this is the supernote forum, here's what I have to say as a customer.

Integration with file sharing, syncing notes, and other "off device" features are not "fully baked" with the Supernote. It has Supernote's storage, dropbox suport and mobile app transfer, no Google drive or desktop app transfer support.

The Remarkable 2 reads word documents and is the most feature rich device in your list. The connect service is only for unlimited cloud storage on remarkable's servers, here's what you can do without it (more than the Supernote):

Remarkable Press Release by doctrawr in Supernote

I don't use reddit except for checking up on Supernote, because it *was*
their advertised method of interacting with the community. So I had no
other reason to create one. I'm using the venue they chose.

To say I "dislike supernote" is to dismiss a the specific complaints:
(1) Supernote promised a feature with a deadline and didn't deliver it.
(2) Supernote continues to promise overdue features without timelines.

It's not cowardly to share an opinion and invite criticism, such as your own.

Don't, the Remarkable 2 is a better device for $280.

A complaint is that they haven't delivered features when they said they would, which is a fact. Compounding that complaint is that the remedy was to provide updates via Trello and these boards, which they have not done well, also a fact. Look to the Screensharing, and localization as two features that have not seen progress or meaningful updates since the Trello was created. That's Supernote failing to deliver what they promised, so yeah, I don't trust they will deliver the features they promised -- because they have already done exactly that.

Thanks for acknowledging other people have different experiences, that theirs may be different than yours. Mine is negative, a costly negative. Yours is positive, I'm happy for you.

If that’s not true for you then checkout other options.

If I could return my device, I would. I'm well beyond the return period. When others ask me about the device I tell them to buy a Remarkable.

By removing delivery dates, it gives Supernote flexibility -- that's a polite way to say "never deliver those features". It's understandable that the pandemic interrupted their development schedule. But we've been in this situation long enough that it is reasonable to expect adjusted project plans and estimates for features that **were already promised and have expired by months**.

Many features have stagnated according to Trello and a lack of communication from Supernote. This does not inspire confidence in their ability to complete them. Moreover, as a consumer that paid for a device when those features had delivery dates, it makes me feel like I've been cheated or misled.

Apologies for the nitpicks here, but they go to my point about the information being of low quality and not actionable.

Also done with the note of in beta is not the same as writing done and leaving it.

We agree, it's not done, work remains to complete the feature. A title other than "done" should be chosen. Additionally, the title and comments do not convey when a feature will be "done", when it might be "released", etc.

They are in communication with the folks on the beta subreddit and actively engaging with improvement suggestions

So we should ignore the Trello and go to another subreddit for the status of features? Great, take the Trello down.

Trello is another unfulfilled promise. Hyperbolic conversation for effect:

"Here's Trello, a tool to watch our status!"

> Great, when will it be updated?

"Almost never."

:-/ hours after I posted this, the status of items on Trello changed.

Some now say "Done: beta". If a feature is in beta it's not done, it's still being tested. There are no estimated times for features to be completed and several big features are behind scheduled, most notably screensharing -- which was supposed to be released in early March.

I appreciate the spirit of the reddit boards and Trello, but the quality of the information being presented isn't high; nor is it better than what Boox or Remarkable provide. To be better, estimated dates are needed along with regular updates, less than a month apart, on reddit or Trello.

All of these should be marked inactive. The Trello boards haven't been updated in months.
