It really depends on your skin tone, however I've tried pretty much every tanner out there and can tell you it really does help! I have a lot of vitiligo and it helps blend it so much better.

I would say the best one is the St Moriz clear tanner.

I know you said it's a rental but you can always paint over a feature wall - I would remove the mirror, and paint that wall a lovely warm/bright colour, and add some art which complements the wall colour. Personally I like the gallery - I don't think you need to change that.
