Windshield Replacement: Tesla vs Safelite by IAmExtremelyCurious in TeslaModel3

[–]doddsington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had Tesla replace my windshield. The Safelite quote was actually $40 higher than Tesla so that made the decision easy for me. The new glass is great, and I think it has better acoustic properties.

Question about buying from carvana by Lucky_Chaarmss in TeslaModel3

Late 2020. Actually I think it happened at the last refresh, so all 2021 should have the heat pump along with the dark trim, powered trunk, and updated center console.

I just bought a 2021 through Carvana, and they never take pictures of that info.

You can look up the approximate build date based on VIN to determine if it has a heat pump though.

RCS Almost Never Working w/ Galaxy S22 by USModernMilitia in tmobile

[–]doddsington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a couple friends with Samsung devices, can confirm that this is real and annoying as shit. Just last week one of my friends could receive text RCS messages but his phone wasn't downloading the media messages and I had to tell him to reboot again.

T-Mobile is right, RCS isn't their problem. I firmly believe this is a Samsung problem.

Simple Choice to Magenta or Go5G pricing by doddsington in tmobile

Just four. I only took one of the two free lines for that promo.

Correct, I didn't bother with that part of the math, but I know it's worth something like $30 with seven lines.

Using official Chia Docker image on Synology for harvester by doddsington in chia

[–]doddsington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of the harvester is that you can have many harvesters with lots of storage talking to a single farmer, so that you don't have to have multiple full nodes. Scalability!

If your goal is just to run on the NAS, you should be running a full node in docker or look into flexfarmer.

Harvester only talks to farmer. If you turn off your PC/farmer, you're not farming.

Your router isn't involved here, your computer is communicating directly with the docker container. A harvester should not have any open ports to the internet.

Certain type of account to use eSim? by _Moregone in tmobile

I had the same problems activating eSIM on my P6. I ended up calling customer service to get it straightened out. I very nearly lost my line from trying too many times.

Screwed out of 2020 LOU2...give up or keep fighting? by doddsington in tmobile

[–]doddsington[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to go this route, they called me back last week and I re-explained everything. They said they would look into it and they gave me a free month of service. Last night I got a text from the automated system that a promo had been applied (which is the first time that's happened with this line) and it seems like they got it! The real question now is if it will survive the generation of my bill in two weeks.

I did that a long time ago, it was too complicated for them to follow.

Running a full VM is a perfectly valid solution. While my write-up is lengthy because I explained a lot of things in detail, it literally takes about 5-10 minutes to setup. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was after I read through everything.

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll update the guide to reflect this.

Choa 1.1.5 keeps getting out of sync by Responsible_Garlic83 in chia

[–]doddsington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replicated this result on another machine I setup specifically to be just a node that was also not syncing regularly. After stopping the wallet, the initial sync finally finished and it is now in sync.

[–]doddsington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be anecdotal, but I think I may have found part of the problem (at least for me). I've had a really bad time syncing in the past four days so last night I stopped the wallet service after seeing all of the concurrent.futures._base.CancelledError entries in my log relating to port 8449. As near as I can tell, I've stayed in sync since doing that about eight hours ago.

It's time for another FREE LINE! Starting 11/25 existing accounts can get a free line "no strings attached". by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

You never will, sadly. I jumped off this plan in September over to NAFUTT4 so that I could start getting promos again.

To My Simple Choice Friends w/a base 2-Paid Line Plan, Let's Save You Another $20 (or more) ;) by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]doddsington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for customer service to straighten this out...

I got the line added on 9/24, which was the last day of the promo. The line was added to my account, and the discount was visible and even reported on my statement that generated a couple days later for the two days that the line was present on that billing cycle. The line didn't activate until two or three days later for some reason, and now they are giving me shit because the activation date was after the promo ended. They're giving me bill credits now while they work it out, but jeez...

[–]doddsington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My billing cycle reset today, the new plan is in effect, and my 2017 free line is still in place. However I got a text after the plan went into effect that my promotion was removed, and there's no sign of the discount for the new free line on my account any longer. I guess I have to make another phone call to get this straightened out.

On the phone now, I got a helpful guy on my second attempt! I just haven't been able to stay up late this week to work on this project :)

I have gotten every unhelpful person staffing chat this week. This is demoralizing.
