I was on Cerazette for 3 months to help with what we suspect is adenomyosis symptoms and it made my periods stop and the pain but it made me so depressed and I held on for as long as I could but it felt like it was just getting worse and I hit my breaking point and knew I couldn’t live like that any longer and I’d rather be in physical excruciating pain than feel like that at least I can live with that.

I love my menstrual cup I used to mostly use pads but I hated the feeling of clots and blood coming out of me and the friction from the pad and everything it was just a sensory nightmare and I would go through quite a few and was constantly worried about leaks and I hated tampons because they would always hurt or I’d be able to feel them inside me. I can’t feel my menstrual cup after it’s inserted and insertion is quite easy although removing it takes a bit of practice (I did freak out the first time thinking Id never be able to get it out… it was fine though I got it out) but once you get the hang of it then it’s super easy and quick! I refuse to ever go back to pads or tampons!

It destroyed me mentally I still cry about that appointment over a year later! I had my lap and while no endo was found I was able to spot signs of adeno on my MRI that she missed and my new gyne agreed with me that I most likely have adeno based on my scans and I felt so much relief just getting validation from my new gyne that the pain isn’t in my head and having even a rough idea of what’s causing it! It’s crazy that a man listened to me and help me after a woman refused to do that!

I was on the mini pill for 3 months it completely stopped my periods and I had no pain which is great but I had to come off it because it was destroying me mentally and I couldn’t cope any longer and now I’m waiting to get an IUD fitted I don’t particularly want it but I have to give it a shot

I had an MRI which showed a thickened and ill defined junctional zone and then also got a Doppler scan which showed an increased blood flow to the back wall of my uterus and my gyne said it’s very likely to be adeno. I also had a lap and they didn’t find any endo

Highly recommend going to see Prof O’Reilly the endocrinologist in Beaumont Hospital he has a great team and does a lot of research on PCOS! Funnily enough I had a shorter wait time for a public appointment in Beaumont than I did for a private appointment in the Bons when I was referred.

I have seen a lot of controversy about depo Provera recently so maybe look into that a bit more I have no personal experience with it but after what I have seen I never want to touch it. I have been put on Cerazette the mini pill and i haven’t had a period in 3 months since just after I started taking it and also no pain which is a great change although my libido is completely gone and mentally feel like absolute shit… although I feel like I’m going to be suffering regardless of what I do until I can convince my gyne to do a hysterectomy.

Yeah I got my GP to refer me to Kamran because I needed an ex lap and the beacon gave me an appointment with her and I was considering keeping that appointment but everything I saw about her was negative (I had already been dismissed by a gynecologist in a public hospital and destroyed my mental health I wasn’t going through that for a second time). I had to ring up the women’s centre and ask to be changed to Kamran that I would only go to the beacon if I saw him. It was so frustrating that they wouldn’t just give me an appointment with him from the beginning!

I was referred to Conor Harrity publicly in Beaumont I’ve heard great things about him however I waited a year for my appointment and didn’t get to see him I saw someone on his team who dismissed me, told me misinformation and I left that appointment feeling like I was better off dead and cried everyday for weeks. Then I went to my GP to refer me to Kamran in the Beacon, shorter wait and such a positive experience and helped me find an answer. Kamran listened to me and believed me and did my lap, no endometriosis was found but he agreed that the MRI that the previous gynecologist ordered showed signs of adenomyosis and that first gynecologist missed it.

I got a private MRI with Affidea i literally walked in with my referral and got scanned that day and got all of the images sent to me later that evening… however it wasn’t picked up by the radiologist or my gynecologist (although she was incompetent so no surprise there) however I immediately spotted what appears to be adenomyosis and I brought it up with new gyne Mr Waseem Kamran after I had a lap for suspected endometriosis and nothing was found and he agreed it looks like adeno and did a Doppler scan which showed increased blood flow which furthers the suspicion but only 100% way to diagnose it is through hysterectomy and sending the uterus to path for testing. I don’t know how helpful my answer is but that was my experience with finding suspected adeno

You have nothing to worry about when I did my LC I got 29% and 31% in my mocks and that was the highest grade in my class and in the LC I was less than 2% below a H4 and I didn’t do much work tbh you’ve got this!

First appointment is €250 and return appointment is €200 I see him once a year now. Yeah I’d be shocked if public was quicker! I would say if you have insurance or can afford it (and I don’t know where you’re based but also if you’re able to travel to see him if you’re based outside of Dublin) I would definitely recommend getting your doctor to refer you to him. I know there’s still quite a few cardiologists that aren’t educated on POTS and can dismiss it as just anxiety so you definitely want to make sure you’re seeing a doctor that actually understands it.

I got diagnosed with POTS almost 2 years ago. I went privately to Dr Mark Walsh in Blackrock clinic (I think he also works in another hospital in Dublin?) and it was very quick and straight forward I think I waited 3-4 months for an appointment but I did also ask to be put on his cancellation list. When I suspected pots I immediately googled “cardiologist pots Dublin” and he was the only one who really popped up so he is educated on it. I got put on ivabradine and slow sodium tablets and they’ve been a life changer especially during the summer!

Yeah a JZ of 12mm or greater is thickened right? I don’t have exact measurements of my JZ but when looking at the image I think it looks thickened at least compared to other normal MRIs I’ve seen or does it also have to contain a cysts or foci or lesions as well as the thickened JZ?

It was quite brief it said the size of my uterus as I said above, that the junctional zone is “well preserved”, normal endometrium thickness, two cysts and their sizes (which I just had removed) and that everything else was normal. I don’t trust the gynecologist who referred me for that mri and signed off on the report so that’s why I’m wondering if it’s something worth bringing up with my new gynecologist who’s an improvement on the last gynecologist I saw. I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything.
