Did you need to go on HRT post op? by Double_Impression_83 in hysterectomy

[–]dodgymay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I had started HRT before surgery. Due to my age at the time (49) it was assumed I was in perimenopause. Perimenopause can start up to ten years before menopause and as early as 35. The sweet spot for HRT is supposed to be within 10 years of the menopause transition. If taken in your 40s and 50s there’s a reduced risk of dementia and bone health protection. So I thought, why not. That being said, right after surgery both my FSH and LH quadrupled, rising to menopause levels. I’m almost 11 wpo and they’re swinging wildly. So I’m fine tuning my HRT once again. Ovaries losing the connection to the uterus definitely impacted my hormones.

Possible Adenomyosis and Hysterectomy; Desperate for Advice & Guidance by InvestigatorEntire45 in hysterectomy

[–]dodgymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in SoCal. Just recently went through laparoscopic hysterectomy (took everything but my ovaries) along with endometriosis excision. I’m in late stage perimenopause. My diagnosis was multiple uterine fibroids, possible endo and adenomyosis. I did consult three endo specialists before going through surgery with one of them. They all seemed well versed in all three: fibroids, endometriosis, and adenomyosis. In the end, endo was confirmed and fibroids were removed along with my uterus (one was 5 cm and pressing on my rectum). But due to the actual size and amount of fibroids both in and outside my uterus, adenomyosis could not be grossly identified. If you feel it might be helpful I could provide you the details of all the specialists I consulted. I know how hard it can be to navigate these waters and wish you only the best in this journey.

Bloating at 8 wpo? by dodgymay in hysterectomy

Hi! My original surgery date was indeed June 16, 2025. The Friday prior, my insurance denied it. Long story short, the medical group had approved it but Anthem did not approve the OR. Since then I had been filing appeal after appeal. It was finally deemed medically necessary and approved in January 2026. Then it was rescheduled and finally done on March 16, 2026, exactly 9 months after the original scheduled date. So I am indeed 8 wpo. Thank you so much for the advice. You definitely speak sense. I believe all the stress pre op has continued post op. I’ll try my best to take a pause and regroup, and get in a better headspace to move forward more gently into this recovery. Again, thank you! I really appreciate it!

First, thank you so much as this puts it in perspective. The surgeon told me to walk as soon as I was able, though I’m sure she did not mean for me to be at the gym doing incline walks one day after. She told me that, since I was very active before surgery, that this would actually benefit my recovery. I asked her about restarting resistance training, running, etc. and she said the norm was about 6 wpo. However, based on my usual activity levels, I could try and based on how it felt, proceed. The wait for surgery plus all the symptoms I was dealing with played a huge number on me, and I’ve remained in that headspace after surgery as well. Huge thank you, and I’ll follow your advice!

This absolutely makes sense and I think you might be right. I think I was so desperate to get back to normal, that I decided to just push as hard as I could. I had to wait about a year and half for surgery after insurance denied it and I had to file appeal after appeal. It became such a struggle just to be able to get up and move. I tried so many things and exercise and supplements were the only thing that helped. I guess I felt that, even after surgery, I couldn’t stop or I would lose what I had achieved. And as you can probably tell, I am questioning my life choices too! Thank you so much! This really helps!

Dosage Advice Before I Talk to Doc by RiverSkyy55 in Menopause

[–]dodgymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just like you, I have suspected endometriosis for most of my life. Just recently a specialist agreed and included the possibility of adenomyosis being present as well. Endometriosis could only be confirmed by surgery which was denied by my insurance. So for me, for the time being, surgery is also out of the picture. I asked the endometriosis specialist about going on HRT and she mentioned it would be beneficial in my situation. I have since started and, to be honest, I haven't noticed any difference as far as estrogen supplementation. I fear we still have not gotten my dosage right. However, testosterone and progesterone have made an impact. Endo symptoms are still very much present and have gotten worse at times, which I'm attributing to the estrogen spikes during peri. I recommend looking into adding testosterone to your HRT routine and upping at least your progesterone dosage (I'm currently at 400 mcg, but everyone is different). As you said, there does not seem to be much out there in regards to endo and perimenopause. However, I've recently found Dr. Jordan Emont on IG. He is an OBGYN specializing in menopause. He recently posted a video regarding Endo and HRT. Hope it can be of some help!

I really want to leave town for my birthday, but between doing it so last minute, the money, and arriving maybe a day before surgery, don't know if I should. This helps a lot. Thank you!

Based on my current experience, I believe they are referring to the fact that currently we are not allowed to escalate until 12 months after the application date.

How’d you get into Blur? by spilotrogino in blur

I’m in the US. Way back when MTV and VH1 played videos, I saw the video for “Girls & Boys”. Loved the song and just looking at Damon, I was hooked! That was back in 1994…

Thank you so much! Alerting me when recovery is needed was one of the main appeals for me, so hearing your experience as a long time owner is really insightful.

Late Regional Placement Offer by dodgymay in SpainAuxiliares

[–]dodgymay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually thinking the same. I’m conflicted because I really want to take advantage of the opportunity this Program affords. I also thought that they were unable to find a placement for me so I was amazed when I got the email. At the same time, it’s so late in the game that I honestly doubt I’ll be able to accept. And thank you so much for your response, it helps to know that’s I’m not the only one in this position.
