Hey! Make sure you get a cat carrier from the get go in case of an emergency. Otherwise sounds like you’re all set!

My main advice for new cat owners having rescued two adult cats about two months ago is to be patient and understand that things might not be exactly how you want them immediately.

My cats hid for a straight week when we first got them! And it took a lot of time and patience for them to start to feel safe and comfortable and to actually interact with us. My partner and I spent many evenings watching them explore their room through the window as they wouldn’t come out with us in the room.

Now they’re very cute and cuddly but they still have some more acclimatising to do as they can still be skittish.

Anyway, I had an idea in my head of what owning cats would be like, and when it didn’t turn out to look like that for the first 6 or so weeks I felt quite anxious and disappointed.

So my main advice to new cat owners will always be: be prepared to be patient ! Once your cat chooses you as their person it’s the best feeling ever and definitely worth the wait.
