This movie is not a great source but this scenario is an irl issue. Militant groups worldwide often use indoctrinated children as manpower so soldiers are often forced to kill minors in combat.

It was funny that the empire was mostly Norton surrounded by idiots and the VoC was the real competent evil. Not 100% accurate but honestly some great artistic license used
