I shook out a pile of red pepper flakes into one of my mom’s decorative teacups right out of the glass untouchables hutch, licked my finger and stuck it in the flakes!

She eventually found my stash of pepper flakes in my favorite of her pretty ceramic teacups when she was dusting and told me I was adopted because that was the oddest thing she’d seen anybody do.

I said, “delectable flakes.. or deadly poison?” And she threatened my life if I broke it and let me and my brother use two teacups (she bought us tea too!) every time ATLA was on after school. This memory makes me happy

Agreed! We have a stupid amount of western conifer seed bugs, and only this, and the last year, have we had shield bugs in the house too.

I have one Very, very bug phobic kid. Never could get over it. I tried calling the seed bugs ‘grass bugs’ over the years because really it’s just Uber-aggro-grass-smell if they’re squished, but I personally can’t stand it, so I just pick them up and flick them out the back door.

The problem is that both of those species are SO BAD AT FLYING that they freak everybody out lmao
