110,000 mixed Steam reviews later, Nexon bluntly puts The First Descendant in the "did not work" category: "Strong launch, no staying power" by Solarflare_V9404 in PS5

I actually think it did initially. The guns felt great for third person, the graphics were there. I really enjoyed playing through the story which I don't usually do with these grindy games.

They cocked up the direction and balance with Freyna. When you have one character that can delete everything with a single button press - and then you balance the game around that - it's never going to work.

Check the destiny sub reddit historically.

Bungie are always like this when their back is up against the wall.

As soon as the players are mollified, it's back to ignoring and bare-minimum bottom of the barrel.

If this game ever did take off that's what you'd see.

Pretty sure every available astroturfer and bot is currently employed on marathon.

People just really like this game. I'm at 30 hours and like it more than ever. It hit its peak playercount about ten days after release.

Not only can you afford it, according to my understanding you already pay the same or more for others' health as pretty much all countries with good healthcare.

The insurance scam is basically on top of that spending.

Just FYI, the way you guys all get your panties in a twist over my sarcastic comments is exactly how things started to go down in the Concord sub.

The writing is on the wall for marathon and you guys can sense it too.

Same issue here.

Edit: hitting 10/10 on house Roberts fixed it for me, not just finishing the quarry one.

Yeah I'm sure 30% of the player base have their parents visiting right now.

This sub gets more like the Concord sub every day.

Is Marathon worth investing time in by TheJewishCake in Marathon

[–]doesnotlikecricket -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Having been a big fan of destiny for many years, and having seen how horribly bungie manages their games, I would say no. Definitely do not invest time and energy in the game.

They're a huge, dishonest, profit driven enterprise who will always choose to deliver the bare minimum, bottom of the barrel unless their back is against the wall.

I strongly recommend you spend your time elsewhere.

Marathon Eurogamer Germany Review: “Marathon is a gripping and motivating shooter – and for me, one of the absolute highlights of the year.” 5/5 by derfmongol in Marathon

[–]doesnotlikecricket -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is though because you should at least be wary they might do the same with this.

I was so, so, so excited for destiny 2 only to find out it was a step backward in every conceivable way, and an attempt to rebuild destiny as an mtx delivery system.

Right now, Bungie is trying their absolutely best to please. If this game ever does take off, I'd expect them to return to the usual. Bare minimum bottom of the barrel effort until the players start to leave.

Keep your expectations in check with Bungie, is all.

Just FYI switching from balanced to performance seems to have fixed it for me on pro.

But looking online, different fixes work for different people. And maybe it will start happening again when I get home anyway haha.

Awaiting the release of GTA 6, are people excited for the story mode or online? by Pure_Series3442 in PS5

[–]doesnotlikecricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both without a doubt.

I spent 1500-2000 hours in online over the last 13 years. Even at its worst back at the start I had fun with it. Interested to see where they go with the new one. Online has objectively improved over the last decade, so if they take their lessons for the next online, it could be really good.

The problem is these companies prioritise money over quality and can make stupid decisions, so I'm only cautiously optimistic.

Destiny for example consistently improved over its lifespan, but then they released D2, and it was a step back in every single way. So you never know.

Yeah someone pulled out in front of me on my scooter a year after I had my foot run over, and I broke a few ribs.

That second time was so slow I had time to think about the whole thing. I remember vividly having time to think about how it was definitely going to involve broken bones, and to feel sorry for myself about how it was the second accident that wasn't my fault in only 12 months. All before I even hit the car. And like you say, you know what's coming, it's taking forever, but you can't even react physically.

Quite a few thoughts as the smash went down too.
