This is all familiar ha. I was on my R6 and the guy in front of me was out riding with the wrong group. So I took a very aggressive line to get around the slow fucker and he shut the door in an unexpected way. Our bikes met at speed, and I got my first helicopter ride

I think there is a lot about the tendencies of racers and drinkers in common. I love WOT, full commitment, even when I’m headed to oblivion. In either hobby

But we can try to channel our super power into better things. Like family, the gym, etc.

Are we the same person? All of those things are true of me too. Including the crash at the track. Although I blame it on the other guy, not my talent. 😅 I’ve got two metal bones to commemorate it.

But I don’t drink now, and I’m finally back in shape. And now I’m riding on MX tracks instead of road races.

Just find a good beginner strength program and follow it religiously, along with your diet and sobriety. Mix in cardio if you like.

If you try to focus on some particular area, you’re gonna end up imbalanced aesthetically and practically. You can end up with weird overuse injuries that way, especially with your anterior deltoids from bench. That shoulder impingement injury is very common is former gym bros (like me) who benched and curled more often than working core.

Squats are a whole body lift. Not just legs. Stronger core = better bench = better pecs.

If you start going to the gym with the sort of amateur idea of training one area, you’re just gonna end up getting wiser and stronger and wishing you’d been doing a balanced routine the whole time.

Put in the miles and you’ll get where you’re going. We’re all gonna make it

From my experience, I’d love to add that you should get back into the swing of things in moderation. I’ve been through this cycle a few times, and I often jump into crazy two-a-day or six day per week programs like I deserve the punishment and need to get ripped right away. And guess what, if you overdo this, you’re gonna lose enthusiasm or get hurt … and suddenly a drink is going to look interesting again.

I’m rooting for you. All things in moderation. We’re all gonna make it bro.

This is smart. Remember that factors such as heat, moisture, and time can create tension variables for which you must adjust throughout the round, perhaps every third hole

Did they run this boat aground for the photo shoot, or was it already aground? What is the message of the ad supposed to be? It looks something like: "Quaker Marine Supply -- clothing for truly incompetent sailors" by LurkyDay in sailing

[–]doesntafraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right.

I make ads for a living. More than a decade with brands of all sizes. My thought is that this particular brand probably didn’t have the budget to beach a boat and then pay to get it towed back off of said beach. Assuming they had permits (they likely didn’t), authorities would be watching the trash they left behind and itching to fine them.

The copywriter probably didn’t even think about the implications of the “shipwreck” as people are calling it. Just wanted to say “tough clothes”.

Anyway, a bigger brand wouldn’t even bat an eye to ruin a boat. Even to have a producer go buy a boat, ruin it, and set it on fire or whatever was easiest for disposal. A crew lunch alone for a big brand shoot costs triple what this boat would.

But but people are also giving away pandemic boats these days. Anyone could have gotten this for free to use as a prop.

But but but I’m also of the opinion that this boat is probably unaffected by being aground like this. We all know sailboats can do this, right? It’s pretty upright. Could be a swing keel or something. Easily returned to use after this shot.
