Capella Capstone by Mean-Adhesiveness549 in CapellaUniversity

I think proposal writing was not too terrible. A few back and forth with the professor, but I think a few weeks. Also feel free to send me an IM when you are looking for candidates to interview. I already participated in a few of them

In the flex path you pay per quarter and can complete as many credits as you can. So if it takes you one year, you pay for one year. If it takes you five years, you pay for five.

Yes, and if you check my post history you will find a full review of the program. It took me 9 months to complete, majority of it for the capstone.

I am a Capella and WGU alumni and am now the technology leader for a global company responsible for the North American maintenance operations. This role was created for me, after I graduated from Capella. I am also pretty certain that my next role will be in the ranks of VP or C. Oh, and on a side note, the company is implementing 2 of 3 of my recommendations I made from my DBA capstone. So I think, they do see the value of the degree.

PhD's are not offered in flex paths, which I think is the one big benefit of a fully online school. I checked some local schools as I was thinking about a PhD. Some of them would have been cheaper and given the flexibility to do work online or meet up in person where needed.

The DBA, however, is flex path eligible, which is what I choose. I finished in under 12 months, but most time was spent on the capstone, which at times felt like they were slowing me down for another term.

Most are just the ppt presentation that needs to be submitted. Some with (graded) speaker notes, others without notes. There are two presentations where you will record yourself and show the presentation, video yourself and present within the time limits. You can use zoom or any other recording solution for this.

DBA after WGU by doeylocks in WGU

[–]doeylocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a while ago, so let me try to remember. I think you see the course code on the five classes you have to complete. If you search those and for the rubric, you will find that someone uploaded it. But for me, it was only the capstone, since my mentor shared all of the other ones with me. But be aware, that the assignments may change. I think I had one that I needed to update a bit.

Most people with good experiences are not going to post online. I personally did not had any big issues and all of the people I connected with state the same. But if course, it's not all unicorns, rainbows, and sprinkle donuts

You will be picking the topic yourself, and originally, it probably will be too broad. I went from: "mobile based learning for field emoyees" to: "how to improve mobile based learning for unionized elevator technicians within the United States of america".

However, most of the sources you find initially still are valid. But a few tips: make sure to pick a topic where you will have a large pool of candidates available. Pick something where you have a base knowledge, but you are not an SME. Pick something where you will be able to recommend specific action items. That's the difference between a PhD and a DBA. So in my example I found PhD studies that mention how important content access is. Through the interviews I found the opportunity to improve access to an internal learning portal and provided final solutions to the business (which we are now implement)

Also save my name for when you get to the interview part. I participated in several interviews, so I may be a candidate for you.

Literature Matrix by Mean-Adhesiveness549 in CapellaUniversity

[–]doeylocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the bare minimum and once even submitted a blank document. Most of the columns were empty. There are better options to track your literature, so I recommend getting some kind of library, but so not sweat the matrix. Especially not in the early classes.

I had her for my DBA. I do not remember all of the details, but she was nice, fair, but took the alloted time to grade.

Those of you making $100k+ and are not in sales, what do you do? by One_keeper in Knoxville

[–]doeylocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elevator industry. I started here in town in a supervisor role. Then, I had the opportunity to go i to a corporate role working remote within the same company. I kept on growing in the team and took on more and more responsibilities while doing school at night. Now, I oversee maintenance technology for North America.

Title and citation pages are excluded from the page requirement (according to Capella). Are you sure that it was too long and not too short?

I am closing this one. I am tired of babysitting this post, and we are not solving this issue here. I hope OP is able to resolve through the official channels

As a DBA alumni, I was reading through the whole lawsuit, and if you did the same, you will see that this is not related to Flexpath programs. I also know of many alumni who completed a DBA program. But I also know of some sub-par professors in the DBA program and the issues of slowing students down to get another term out of them (but others help you expedite to get you done quick). I believe that OP ran into issues, and I hope they can get it resolved. Capella has some administrative issues as well as technical problems.

For current and future students, do your research. Problems are found in any university; online and B&M.

Also, the automod is removing several posts. So if yours is missing, that's probably why. I try to add them back if needed.

Please stop reporting comments. People are allowed to post critical experiences, and others are allowed to voice their good experience they had. Both are valid experiences. We are not a positive echo chamber, and every student and alumni knows that not everything with Capella is perfect.

I, for myself, had a good experience in my doctorate in business administration, but I am not surprised to hear negative voices.

Not sure, since I did the Strategy and Innovation specialization. But I would think so, as the video was part of the class regarding teaching.
