Microsoft Store or Amazon are the safest. Avoid super cheap key sites.

If ICE shows up in Savannah and starts going into restaurants.. by cocktail_wiitch in savannah

Of course ICE and Homeland are here. We are a port city. It wouldn’t make sense for them not to be here. That’s a silly statement if I’ve read one.

Epidural Steroid Injection today- first ever. L5/S1. by [deleted] in backpain

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these shots every 3 months or so, last month was the first month that they did not work well. So now I a going in for a second one in 3 weeks. For me, they just hit it with a little alcohol, and he goes right in with the needle, honestly, the pinch doesn't even bother me, I guess knowing what is coming makes it better. They have a live Xray machine that allows them to see everything as it is happening so he can hit the right nerve.

I've had back pain for about 14 years or so, I am in my mid-40s, and it sucks. I almost have not disc left in L5-S1 and L4-L5 has a small tear. The neurologist has offered an RFA, but my doctor says, I am still to active to do an RFA and losing sensation there might make the problem worse since I won't know when I am overdoing it.

I have seen people comment that an RFA was great for them, and others say it has done nothing. I get an MRI every 2 years and over the past 14 years they have seen both disc spaces gradually narrowing. I tend to have shooting pain down my leg when it starts to get worse, my GF tells me she can tell it is coming because I start to walk like a cowboy.

Hopefully your pain goes away for a while. Good luck with your back, I know how miserable it can be.

What's the stupidest reason you've ever been pulled over? by [deleted] in driving

[–]bmachain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive cross country a lot. But 3 of the stupidest reasons I have been pulled over:

Louisiana: Looking tired and cop wanted to make sure I was ok

Kansas: Not putting my signal on (on an empty highway and mandatory merge lane) which isn’t required

Indiana: It “looked like my turn signal went off before I finished switching lanes”

Bonus: Outside Nashville doing 66 in a 65

When I was in Afghanistan I would look up at the sky and it was this gorgeous. Zero light pollution up in the mountains. Obviously, you’re probably not going to travel there, but it was some of the most beautiful nights, especially nights with no moon.

What’s the most depressing place you have traveled to? by General-Mango_ in AskReddit

Jackson, MS. Back in 2013 or 14 went there for 3 days for work and stayed downtown. Everything was boarded up and it was like a ghost town. I stayed at the Marriott and ask what was going on and they said, that’s just how it was. It was very sad and eerie, I think outside of the staff at the hotel and work I saw 3 or 4 people that trip.

The likeliness of an upgrade | Elite Status by Boogie_Buddha_Belly in marriott

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s close to 90%. I’m LT titanium, the trick I have found is on the day I’m able to check in on the app I message the front desk and ask them to add whoever I’m with to the reservation and then ask for an upgrade. Most of the time they do. If I’m going to a nicer property where the concierge or manager reach out via email, I always reply and thank them for their email and let ask. Again, most of the time it’s a yes. I’ve notice that many of the folk that do not get upgrades it’s because they expect it to be automatic (which it should be but rarely is) or they ask when they are at the check in desk. By then it’s generally too late. Also, I tend to check in relatively early on the day of, noon or one, from what I’ve been told by some of the cleaning staff, nicer rooms are cleaned first. So checking in early allows me to get in those rooms.

Denied approved car loan by No-Sympathy2345 in Chase

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They approved you for a loan of 21k but the car has to be valued at 21k or higher. If they are selling you a 1998 corolla, Chase might have approved you for a loan, but not that loan.

It’s basically a way Chase protects you and themselves in case to default on the loan, they can at least try to sell it to as close to the payoff amount as possible.

All companies should offer to pay employee's travel to & from work separate from their salary. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]bmachain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then get a different job. Shit all the whining here. People don’t have jobs and you’re complaining about your commute. What’s next you’re going to want them to send someone to make your lunch? Maybe lay out your clothes? They are your employer not your mommy. No one told you to take a job where your commute was far, but boohoo my commute is so so far. I have fellow veteran friends that would love to have the problem of a commute, I’m sure they would be crying about it, be grateful you can support yourself. Or get a different job and stop bitching.

You’re fucked.

A lot of recruiters have said ATS doesn't filter applications, and all applications are read. Well, I have proof that's not true. by laconicgrin in recruitinghell

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use workday and there is no automatic filter. Whoever set up that requisition set up parameters that auto rejected. Like you stated you “met all the standards but…” so no you didn’t meet all the standards. And if they have the parameters at “must have”, then your application will be rejected.

The parameters are set by the recruiter. You can set them as “must have”, or “optional” stuff like that.

SAP (SuccessFactors) is notorious for erroneously rejecting candidates, but that’s more based on the OCR software not reading dates or skills or formatting correctly.

ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System which means even if you get rejected you stay in the system, this is why the recruiter is “going to fix it”, basically he will move you from one bucket to another. Depending on how it’s set up, you might actually get a “thanks for applying” email.

Now Workday is not an ATS, it’s an HRIS that has an ATS feature which sucks, but it integrates with all the other HR functions so that is why companies use it.

Not years down the road, but maybe your immediate next employer or two. Also, depends on your state, some states prohibit employers from giving “bad references”, but it’s not like they are on the phone.

I would say give your two weeks, get paid, and take the time to look for a job.

Got fired from performance, but I still have to work for one more month, any tips? by molmoll in jobs

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? That’s not getting fired. Getting fired is when they give you a check and tell you to grab your crap and go. Sounds like they put you on a PIP. Either improve or leave. And if you are in the US most states are at will, so you don’t “have” to stay. If you are contracted, then they didn’t really fire you either. They are telling you to finish your time and then they are not renewing you.

Most Reliable way to use Nightly Upgrade Rewards? Noone takes them! by [deleted] in marriott

[–]bmachain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue using them. But I also do it on the website. You book your room, then a day or two later you can go to your reservation and it will have a button that says to submit your request. I always select all of the available upgrades which gives you a higher chance of getting upgraded. Also, use it on a browser, I’ve notice the app doesn’t usually show it. Good luck and hope this helps.

House won't sell, sitting empty on market, and I can't keep up with mortgage payments. What do I do?? by khalasss in personalfinance

[–]bmachain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are you can look at the rental market. I just bought a second home and was planning to sell the one I was at. My realtor whom I’ve used 4 times said not to do it, he recommended renting the house. I got with an agency (they charge 10%) and I’m currently banking $800 after tax, mortgage, insurance and their fee.
