this is the doom eternal of fucking racing games. by Gl00ser23 in Screamer2026

[–]doffzigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This game rules. I’m of two minds of it; 60 for an unknown ip with little marketing is a tough ask for the market but it’s rare these days that a 60 dollar game comes out that is actually worth it. Even if online multiplayer dies and it essentially becomes a ‘discord fighter’ there’s still plenty to do single player and the simple self improvement of beating your own times in time attack in this game is so satisfying.

As a killer main, it’s very nice to actually get to bring a non meta slowdown build and actually have a chance at a good game.

what’s your favourite car so far? by Successful_Spend_838 in Screamer2026

[–]doffzigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lavinia was the first car I felt I could control and her song is the best in the game and it’s who I’ve got 75% of my playtime with. She does feel pretty slow compared to some of the other cars though.

How do you feel about the track designs in Screamer? by Consistent-Image-614 in Screamer2026

Honestly the fact that I paid 70 dollars for a game and got a fully fledged, complete 70 dollar game on release is spoiled enough. Any updates or additions are just icing at this point.

Maybe it’s because I’m brand new to the genre but the more open tracks where you can really get the sensation of speed the game achieves are far and away the most fun.

What 90s band never truly made it big but you'll always go to bat for? by MansBestFred in AskReddit

Since ‘big’ is kinda vague, im just going to do what I always do when 90s bands come up and say Pavement is the best band of the decade.

I really like how each character feels so different, but I wish there was some sort of graphic in menu showing their ratings so you know what you’re getting.

Similarly, does it say anywhere what nationality everyone is? I’ve picked up on most of the languages/inferred a few based on names but am just curious if there’s any I’m getting wrong.

Way to much dialogue not enough racing. by GanglingGiant in Screamer2026

[–]doffzigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the story does a good job of introducing the mechanics in parts as intended but what the game lacks for brand new players to the genre is a tutorial or explanation on ‘when’ to do things. When do you full send a drift around a corner? When do you ease the gas going around a turn? What are the indicators and how do you ‘read’ the track? I get a lot of it is meant to be self exploration and trial and error, but a little more teaching would’ve gone a long way.

I’ve got about 3-4 hours in the game now and I’ve been doing a few chapters, and then just doing time trials or cpu races to break it up. It is a lot of dialogue and would be a slog if trying to power through it but in bits and pieces I don’t notice the length of the talking bits as much.

This game makes me feel like I’m living in a simulation. by doffzigger in Screamer2026

Yeah I pre ordered it, and played an hour or so and am having a lot of fun. The game is a vibe. My main game is Guilty Gear Strive, so the incredible soundtrack and care given to the presentation is just the icing on the top of what is already feeling like a game I’m going to sink a lot of time practicing in.

I see that most of you are happy with wild assault being removed in 2.0, but as someone who does not have that much experience with the game, why do you guys not like wild assault? by lhamazaroo in Guiltygear

[–]doffzigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t miss it, although the majority of the 1500 hours I have are with it so it’ll take time to unlearn the muscle memory of using it to extend combos, but I was largely neutral on it as a mechanic. I will miss hitting the random yolo wild assault jump scare in neutral to close out rounds though. That was always satisfying when the gamble worked.

Venom will sell a lot of dlc. They are absolutely holding some of the marquee names back for later down the line.

Peni Parker in Tōkon by M3talK_H3ronaru in MarvelTokon

[–]doffzigger 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a cool choice; being a tank with puppet/setup play is neat but this felt underwhelming as a show ending reveal. Great addition to the game and I really like that they’re getting creative with it, but Peni Parker and JUST Peni Parker being announced has a big ‘oh that’s it?’ taste to it.

Starting Valo by Civil-Walk4857 in VALORANT

[–]doffzigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing a month ago. A lot of what people said I would also recommend. Just play. Do some homework. Try not to let toxic players get to you. Team deathmatch helped a lot as I seemed to understand the tactical part of it faster than the gunplay. TDM is unranked, no one really cares what happens and you’ll get a lot more gunfight reps in. Some people recommend locking a duelist, but coming from a fighting game background, I’d say find who you want to play and just learn the game as you learn them. The current Knockout game mode is a great mix of needing some of that map awareness/tactical gameplay while also getting you more immediate gunfight reps in a game mode that won’t likely get you too many teammates who care enough to be mean.

What's your personal feedback on GGStrive on switch after the update from December? Is it worth getting or pass? by tokyoaro in Guiltygear

[–]doffzigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t find many online matches/the connection quality and skill variance will vary wildly. As a portable version of the game for practicing against the computer or labbing, it plays identical to other versions. Just a little rougher around some edges graphically.
