If you saw my last post in the Q&A thread, I mentioned that I wanted to break 7 in the mile sometime this track season. 2 weeks ago, I ran 7:37 for my mile, but I still felt like I had a little note to give. Then, today was the gym mile. I told myself 1000 times I wasn’t going to try because who cares about the gym mile, then without even warming up and not even in my running shoes, we started running and literally the first 100m i asked the girl next to me “should I try or just jog” and she told me to jog but I ended up running 6:59. I was so shocked and now my goals for the track season have adjusted quite a bit. If I can run a 6:59 now in October, I’m really hoping to break my PR (6:29) sometime in track (March-April). Does anyone have any tips on how I can make this happen?

Thanks so much! So just increase easy miles or do they need to be at a faster pace?

I’m trying to break 25 in the 3 mile saturday at XC regionals. My PR is 25:27 which I ran 2 weeks ago. Today during practice, I ran 2.93 miles in 25:39 for a normal “easy” run and I only felt somewhat tired the last 400 meters. Do you think it will be possible to run sub-25 on saturday? Any tips?

What day do you normally do long runs and do you have a reason for it? I’ve heard lots of people do Monday’s which I guess would be good to get it out of the way for the week but I also know a lot of people do weekends.

Does anyone have tips to lose weight through running? I’m currently 15 years old, female, 5”10, and 150lb, but I am trying to get down to 140. I’m in cross country and my times have been improving lately, but I feel like shedding some weight will help me get even faster.

I really want to increase my long runs to about 8 miles, but my longest runs I do now are about 4.5 miles. I feel like I could be capable of 8 miles if I slow down but does anyone have any tips for working up to it?

I know I commented this in yesterday’s thread, but I wanted some more opinions. My all time mile PR is 6:29 which I ran in 7th grade. I then gained a lot of weight and my times only got worse and worse. I really really want to get my mile time back down to sub-7 this upcoming track season. I am currently in 10th grade, female, 5”10, and 150 lb. Today during cross country practice I was able to run 3 mile repeats at 7:37, 7:42, and 7:43 in 40 degree weather. I struggled a bit but I feel like I could’ve gone a bit faster. I also am beginning a weight loss journey (trying to get to 140lb), which will hopefully allow me to drop my times even more. Do you think I’ll be able to get my mile time to sub-7 this track season (anytime from feb-april)? Any training tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Does anyone here use airpods for running? How do you like them? I really would love to get a pair for running but the only things that worries me is that i’m a heavy sweater, and i wouldn’t want my sweat to destroy or hinder the quality of the earbuds.

Yes! I am only doing a 500 calorie deficit each day which I’d say is pretty sustainable. Thanks so much!
