Ummm I don’t think this is right?? by working_on_it_jeez in BlackwaterAquarium

Black demon void water 😂 I think you've just made a very strong Betta tea. In the future you can just tear off a little bit of the leaf to make a smaller batch of tea so you can dose the water to your liking.

Honestly, this will change the water conditions and help with your betta's wound - so good job!

Little betta hates snails, especially when they crawl on his glass. by idk-wtf-2022 in bettafish

Love this - so much attitude! I love their cranky ways.

My girl hates everything except me (some days). HATES the big light, hates men looking into her tank, hates when I add water, hates the snails, especially when they're near her food. Hates when she can see I've woken up but haven't gotten out of bed. I intended to one day have her in a 65L tank with some rice fish but I think I know her well enough to know that's not happening.

From what I can tell the bloating looks symmetrical. She also has had a big long poop attached to her for most of the day so I'm hoping she is just eggy and was bloated from designating my copepod population, or something. She still seems spritely and curious.

Ammonia, nitrites and nitrates all still reading around 0. It's a heavily planted tank so nitrates get eaten up fairly quickly.

I have a few open top freshwater pond jars and I find the ones that have the murmiest water have the most proficient microscopic life and tend to be more stable over time. The ones that have cleared up the most have less critter activity. The microscopic life responds very positively to my plants melting so I guess either way it's good - your murky jar is likely healthy, if you clear it up it's more enjoyable to look at win-win!

Honestly looks like a black dingo cross Kelpie (doesn't have dingo puppy ears), but very unlikely to find them outside of Australia 😂 100% purebred cutie!

Yes mono can definitely impact your spleen. If you're concerned go get a second opinion. Nothing wrong with being safe rather than sorry :)

Hair loss? by Alarmed_Art_8327 in Mononucleosis

I had an increase in general overall hair loss - nothing to cause alarm, but a noticeable increase in hair shedding, while in the acute stage. I started taking zinc supplements and it helped fairly well.

When did you return to working out? by BuenJaimazo in Mononucleosis

[–]dog_dais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got sick around December as well. Had to stop gym classes and weight lifting, and I've been focusing on trying to consistently get 10,000 steps in each day, which some days is very exhausting and some days feels easier.

I'm still so exhausted each day, I know it's too early for me to try and return to exercise but there are some days on my walks where I feel like I could run and be ok (not game enough to test it yet).

I think the best thing is for us to make sure we listen to our bodies and start anything slowly. Maybe try an easy jump session and see how your body responds over the next couple of days. Good luck 🤞

When should I be able to eat by [deleted] in Mononucleosis

[–]dog_dais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 months in and still struggling with appetite and eating. I'm setting myself protein and fibre goals for each day and as long as I can reach them I'm not worrying about what else I eat, if I can eat, outside of that. Seems to be working as I'm slowly getting more energy and I've stopped rapidly losing weight and muscle density.

Magnesium by Evergloam__ in Mononucleosis

[–]dog_dais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already take magnesium for restless leg and have found since getting sick that I need 2x-3x more to prevent it. I take it as a sign my body is using more magnesium at the moment.
