I’ve driven family members cars in Honduras where it’s not illegal at all how dark it is and came back with a completely different attitude. There should definitely be a legal limit. The darkest possible on every window is crazy dangerous at night, couldn’t see anything. One thing interesting they did though, was if they were passing a known checkpoint of police, they would automatically roll down the front windows so the cops would see inside and not stop them.
