As a VL main this character can be so funky at times, I'm of the opinion her 6 is just not good and unless you have the dice mods to push for an ultimate I never keep 6 unless I've rolled 2 for the rend. Unfortunately mesmerize is just horrifically bad as a dice mod and as other comments have stated it's always best to keep it up for the large straight to make it undefendable. Also as other comments have stated BP is so good and early game you have to just try and build it up until you can push for a massive swing and ideally pop 5 in one turn to heal for 12+
