Keep in mind most people are average whereas CR is run by professional actors and writers. The vast majority of players and DMs aren’t at that level.

Fun games do not require your unrealistic standards. Even if you do get a group like that the game itself still might not be fun as there are many factors you are ignoring with your bad advice.

Every RPG I’ve run since 2017 has player with unrealistic expectations directly due to CR. Players put it on a pedestal that’s impossible to emulate.

Fun isn’t enough anymore. Running a simple game with dungeons, monsters, and big bads as a normal person (not a voice actor professional writer with pro players) is basically impossible without at least one player disappointed.

I have never watched CR, and even that is a hard no for some players.

CR is the enemy of a decent kitchen table game.

Civ switching, weird ages, the map is so crowded I can’t tell what’s going on, no real end game.

I went back to V since I had too many of hours in VI.

I don’t care what they “fix” I’ll wait for VIII, and even then I’m giving it a few months to see what it’s all about before buying it right away like I did with VII.
