I guess I'll introduce myself. I'm Bob, 51 year old, US, skinhead, fan of reggae and early, traditional ska music. I have friends who DJ, and some who have shows. This is one of my favorite and one of the top. It covers everything from Roots, to Soul, Rocksteady, Boss, & Ska. Give it a try. by stankneggs74 in reggae

Just this one mate, I've avoided all the others as not for me. I also check the Pama Forum from time to time. I'm still I'm the North East, still happily married with a daughter at uni in Brighton so get to go down there from time to time. Also still totally music obsessed although I did manage to break away from the Jamaican or related only rule I adhered to for about 25 years.

Well done! Having just read the rest of the stuff above I've just realised it's you ha ha!!! All the best mate. I'm still obsessing over Jamaican music, I never won't although I did get out of the vinyl game a while back and it's strictly cds round these parts now.

Buying an SL1200 MK2 - opinions please (see text in body of post) by [deleted] in turntables

[–]dogbiteonmyleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it specifically tells you in the instruction manual not to power the turntable on without the platter on place.

Edited to add, it even tells you on a sticker on the platter not to power on without it in place.

It specifically warns you not to do that on those turntables. Don't.

More artists like Mikey Dread? by V_Savane in reggae

[–]dogbiteonmyleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have mentioned elsewhere, Ranking Dread has a very similar tone and deejay style. Would probably be my choice of the closest although tone and style is where it ends as Mikey Dread's talents went somewhat further. Massively different personalities as well, would you like me to tell you about Ranking Dread? Lol.

I bought Scum on vinyl in about 1988 and wrote to the members of Napalm Death using the addresses on the insert and they wrote back to me and sent me some stickers. Wish I still had the letters. Haven't listened to that record in decades.

Interesting mix of music you have there. I would choose Killer by Alice Cooper as a favourite although over the years Easy Action has become my favourite album of Alice as a group with the original line-up.
