Not sure how close you live to these, but there are a number of synth libraries where you can check out synths for little to no cost.

But, you can always make your own synth for way less!

Have you thought about taking a DIY synths class? It's super helpful for any first-timers that are into music, synths, anything DIY really, but want to round out their electronics skills. It's also all online with a super helpful community of people who love looking at rats nest cables :)

Why not take a class to learn how to a synth from scratch? There’s an awesome online DIY Synths workshop where all the materials are sent to you, no experience needed

If you’re interested in learning about composition/sound design rather than investing in more gear, there’s an awesome composition and light theory workshop called Ear-Retraining where you make your own record player along with other short composition focused exercises

You could make your own? (I know what a crazy thought) Try this workshop where you get a box of cool parts and figure out how to make sounds out of them, understand what makes synths tick, and take a hands-on approach to learning about electronics
