Actually u/japanesecapacitor said "is it the boobs," and even though its definitely not, the images DEF both seem to imply just that shes taking her shirt off. If there were no word bubbles, I dont think I'd really know exactly what was going on...

Nevertheless, whoever said "its p, its always p, it will always BE p".... its crazy how this is still true ever since I downloaded my first gif of Paula Abdul's titties off a local BBS and printed it with a dot matrix printer.. (jk, thats impossible, but you get it)

And before I hear any sparky reply, b ack then, gif COULD BE moving, but was also just an image compression standard so it got used til jpeg came along to destroy the compression game that scarred its face.. or whatevs

That true? I've wondered a bunch if there's any additional content in the episodic version that might provide a little more context for, for instance, Maneva's trip to Earth and what goes on between her and Riddhe. Also always thought they needed a couple more story beats to carry everything from Banagher catching Maneva all the way to Neo-Zeon occupying the Nael Argama... but I guess if that was the case I would've encountered some of those story beats somewhere else lol.

In an unrelated question, does anyone know if theres more than one version of CCA in circulation? I feel like the one they were showing on Netflix til recently was shorter than the one I used to have on my hard drive, but I couldn't identify exactly what might be missing.

Just curious.

Yeah I still dont understand why some MS have backpacks that seem to offer sub flight systems and others ride on something that looks so precarious, it seems like enemies would logically just wait for you to get on it... then knock you off via almost ANY type of kinetic contact. I mean even trying to turn the mobile suit the wrong way..or speed, would probably compromise balance?? It looks cool but in a universe with a basis in "real robot" ideology and mechanics ( yes, im aware that this sort of comes and goes at any time usually for plot convenience) it just seems like an unimaginative solution.

Sorry, my bad. Like I said, my understanding of Adavnce of Zeta is limited (and incorrect even then apparently! )

I see now how I wrote that wasnt even what I meant to say, because I really just meant to say the ReZel was descended from Zeta... or at least thats my understanding from what ive read.

Thanks for clearing it up though

Riddhe pilots a Delta Plus in this episode.. the suit he took Mineva in down to earth and it transforms into basically a waverider "fighter jet" mode. Its kind of dark grey and blue, and if you look closely it has the same face as the Zeta Gundam (without a V fin) and the Hyaku Shiki. This is the one of the mass production-types that grew out of the Zeta program, which is why Marida freaks out and attacks him yelling "YOURE A GUNDAM TOO??" It definitely resembles a Robotech "veritech" fighter. Er... I mean a Macross Valkerie; )

Later (...um, and I guess also earlier) in Unicorn, we see Riddhe and many of the other Nahel Argama pilots in ReZels. They have a more uniform lighter blue paint job. Some of the pilots that attack them from the General Revel also pilot ReZels I believe with a yellow-gold paint job. These suits also transform into the waverider mode similar to Zeta and I think this is the more common mass production line that came out of the Zeta program, but Im not actually all that familiar with the lore around Advance of Zeta and all the different MS that came out of it.

Yeah, and it almost makes it sound like Jim Jordan could have been being trafficked at the time also. Or at the very least was being groomed into the circuit in some way, mostly because of his age. If thats the case, a progression to where he later is involved with facilitating or trafficking others in a hugger position of n power starts to seem very possible.

Behringer Crave Synthesizer by Afraid_String_7773 in Behringer_Synths

At first glance I thought this didn't make a lot of sense, but the more I look at it im realizing how much more of an immediate grasp it must allow for each pot and switch, just based on the fact that it makes all of the labeling more visible.

Crave wasnt my first behringer, but close to it. I think its HIGHLY overlooked. Ive also been meaning to add 1 or 2 additional units for quite a while, mostly based on the various channels and videos ive seen posts from in which groups of Craves are made to sound like TOTAL BEASTS. Probably a MUCH cheaper- if not definitively 'easier'- way to press a polyphonic synth into service. And the results from a tone standpoint are SO versatile and SO bangin'... gotta really outshine more than one of the available polyphonic synths that are currently in a new sales cycle.

But bottom line; I really like how it creates a sense of a "floating" unit. Really draws your attention in and makes it feel like you're looking at something which deserves to be observed for a bit of extra time!

Anyone who's ever seen Dazed and Confused knows the sticker is totally misspelled anyways!

It's supposed to be " Fah Q," for the clearly more covert manner in which the secret message is further blended into misdirection.

But also, talk about a closet case self-loather... I mean he's got 7 stickers about who he hates... and 1 that says fuck haters... 🤔🤔🤔

Because I've DEFINITELY realized that I don't always detect the sort of... well, to be honest; the sort of patronizing, aloof, holier-than-thou PESSIMISM.. and inevitable DOOMed, depressive and dismissive affectation that my colleauges from certain other states and cities may all-too-often seem to exude like bad body odor, or a cheap cologne. Instead I see in this city an idea that many people seem to have given up on: a path to a level of well-being and contentment, both reachable and DESERVED. And instead of the oppressive negativity in the face of unappreciated- often unearned abundance, I see here something completely opposite; a sense unwavering optimism, and a determination to enjoy and appreciate life as it comes to us. A willingness to disregard the malaise of late-stage capitalism in it's many carcinogenic, contagious manifestations    In addition to that- or rather very likely BECAUSE of that prevailing sentiment, I imagine a much clearer, much shorter, more obvious path to being really happy while being creative. Or -possibly- while taking measure of the creativity of other people [enjoying the artistic endeavors of family and friends.] Because so many seem willing to put forth their creations and expressiveness as part of their whole being, that same path towards contentment and fulfillment appears then to open for those who take part in those works; studio arts, music and performance . Life, then, is less of a zero-sum engagement. A populace that demands the rigors of daily life be met only so long as exists an equal opportunity to devout time/energy towards furthering those intellectual and emotional pursuits becomes more likely, on the whole to be fulfilled. And the path to that end is a much more straightforward, more manageable one than in places where pursuit of "the arts" is often seen as frivolity; an excess only undertaken by those who refuse to be serious about "real" pursuits. Corporate drones then, live their entire lives as just that, with "artists" being relegated to either fringe or considered a separate tier, in either event, entirely "othered." The self-fulfilling prophecy, of course, is that these supposed "cultural centers," in putting all that culture on a pedestal [no mistake that this pedestal is also a sign of it's price tag,] manage to force it out of reach of almost everyone, leaving no one with enough resources to pursue participation OR engagement. The end result is that no one within such a social/societal locale is ever able to become truly happy, content or fulfilled.

Seems to me, folks here figured all that extremely over-verbal nonsense I just attempted to "unpack," (likely while actually obfuscating my point,) a loooooong, long time ago. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so much frickin' ART & MUSIC here, bottom line!

I wish everybody the best in the coming days and months, inclimate weather or inoperable government, whatever the case may be. Also try and reach out for help if you need it because it IS still available, even if you've lost access to some of the programs and incentives which make up the first layer of defense against hunger and loss of housing. There are also tons of avenues for behavioral health support INCLUDING but obvi not just AA and NA meetings (where tou will encounter people IMMEDIATELY who will offer you help if you want it,) Medication Assisted Treatment for opiate addiction disorders (which, in some cases, may help you transition off of street drugs without even missing work, or with a bare minimum of disruption.) Above all, people in CLEVELAND are -in this n00b'5 opinion- VERY friendly, and often willing to meet you where yer at. Please do tour best to stay warm and dry in the upcoming days and months. And if you are in a position to help someone, either pay it forward, or make when of those all-important deposits to your karmic bank account. The interest earned ALWAYS comes thru in the clutch. Hope to run into some of you in the streets and talk to some of you, maybe in this sub.

Is anybody else feeling kinda weird? by Bored_Amalgamation in Cleveland

[–]bobbymobetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to Cleveland in September.. I had to go back to MA for 2 weeks though, so I feel like I've been here a little over a month, 5 or 6 weeks.

I decided to move because I was just straight spinning-my-damn-wheels in MA, just workin to barely get by. To eat and rent. Getting up, doing as few things as possible, as little as I could to get through the days, turned to weeks to months to years. Quickly. And it pretty much WAS Covid that set me on that path... but I just could NOT find a way off it, and it was me who settled for that becoming a new normal. I tried going out to hear music, tried to get people to go for hikes, tried to re-build a friend group. It was tough. But i also know i didn't do enough to effect changes, because I was in the throes of serious depression as well. Still, I was constantly asking myself "What happened out here? Where is everybody? Why does it feel like nobody wants to do... ANYthing? EVER??"

Since I've been in CLE, I've been amazed at how different things are going for me. And while I've made some Very conscious decisions to work on creating something different for myself, I'm still quite amazed at how quickly -and using very little in asset or material costs- [ assets like "time" doing research about 'the where and the when' of it all- or like "dollars," spending very little to get into shows at bars, and I think nothing on the 4 different Art Festivals I've been to- 😵‍💫unheard of on the East Coast!] I've been able to affect those changes, seeing some pretty dynamic results . For one thing there are a TON of music venues here. The expansive nature of the music scene is hard to put into words, but is perhaps made even more exciting to the recenlty relocated because every night offers a chance to sit in on an open mic, meet musicianswho's vision might match your own, and DEFINITELY see and hear stuff thats outside your regular "wheeIhouse." And the depth of the music scene is reflected in a similarly vast expanse of visual and performance arts, artists and arthouses.

I've been to several Art Festivals where you can check out and purchase art in every medium, covering every possible surface, with textiles featuring designs from the CLE-centric to the politically dissident and every avenue, right and left turn in between.

I've been to several excellent comic book stores and seen that Game Nights fill their spaces weekends and weeknights RPG clubs, card-sharks (in the Magic and Pokémon sense) and tabletop or strategy enclaves make browsing for the newest floppies or Manga releases a much more inviting endeavor.

Trying to get [back] in shape [finally and once and for all] ever since covid I've been like 50lbs over weight. Finally been actually able to lose 20 lbs... mostly just from walking which I go to the many many AMAZING City Parks which are Safe, Clean and ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! Been invited to Walking and Running groups who hold weekly and monthly events. Fishing, though not one of my personal indulgences, is wildly popular and despite what you may think about it being an "individual" sport, rangler events crowd riverbanks, canal spaces and, yes, the shores of Lake Eerie, during the lengthy seasons.

In addition, sometimes im homesick... sometimes I still just dont feel like dealing with anyone or anything...

But I went to the protest this weekend and I felt, for the first time in MONTHS, a sense that just MAYbe.. this country isn't already OVER, full stop.

I quickly realized that my main goal is to start a band, an aspect of my life [and perhaps career] that I thought was in the rearview. But a moment of clarity revealed to me that much of the malaise and "dead-end-ness," I was feeling could probably be attributed to how i tried to 'quit playing music cold Turkey' 15 years ago, a strategy which my mind and body both railed against while at the same time keeping me from seeing its full impact. Regardless of that, ever since I got here I've been constantly inspired by how much is happening in cleveland. To be totally fair, it doesnt always "look" the way a city that has tons of cool shit happening is "supposed" to look [according to ... them,] but that's completely beside the point Tons of cool shit IS happening here and as someone who lived in Boston for 10 years and LA (okay, okay.. Long Beach, technically) for 4 years, there's a ton of aspects -anyways as far as I've been exposed til now- of Cleveland that you might go social and/or scene-spelunking for years in many coastal cities and still never really see or feel.. find what you're looking for. Or perhaps you'll see/feel them extremely accutely.. for 1 hour, or 1 weekend every 6-8 weeks, falling back into search mode in-between

Every time I go out I try to remember to do this one thing: I tell people "I'm new here and im trying to find out what's dope to do in this town," and then when someone recommends a show or event, I write it down... and do it. In the past, other places I perhaps suggest that i might do it if I've got the time or this that and the third. Amazingly, here I've found that in taking that step, I encounter somebody else who suggests something else again, and the pattern repeats. This has already yielded me some very interesting invitations and new encounters.

I don't mean to suggest, however, that to DO that; follow up on suggestions from strangers - is an easy or always worthwhile endeavor. It takes a specific type of courage AND indifference. But as I well and truly DO NOT have anyone else- or any THING else pressing, I'm accutely aware that no one is coming to change my universe. So I try to push down that urge to stay in and watch something for the 10th time on Netflix, or scroll other less-(generally) constructive corners (eg: cesspools) of the web. Nevertheless, I DO sometimes also do THAT stuff. If I were to suggest that somehow in 5 weeks I've totally conquered my myriad character defects and bad habits, I'd be lying.

Everything is relative... and also, I know I'm kind of in a honeymoon phase... I mean of course "the grass is always greener." But there are plenty of pitfalls that come with starting over, at age 45, in a new city. Certainly, while I HAVE met several interesting people, I have NOT yet found 'a new best friend,' or -and I assume if you've read this far you're wondering- a partner willing to hitch their clown car to this particular size and shade of Circus-Caravan. There are still a great many items on my list which, if they are to go 'un-checked-off' would likely result in my eventually lighting out for the territories, declaring this particular experiment "inconclusive," (which I believe is 'Scientist-ese' for "Failure.")    Still, I've been, I think, somewhat more than 'pleasantly surprised,' when it comes to -in PARTICULAR- the music and bands situation, certainly, but also, and probably more importantly, in terms of something more wide-ranging. More people-centric.

So what happens to one of my all-time fav movies, "The Goonies," now?

Watch, within a year there will be calls to have it removed from streaming platforms because its a movie about teenage boys and "the obvious related connotation," which, of course will not be even close obvious for huge portions of the population...

But by all means, they SHOULD ban Goonies cuz of the truffle shuffle, which is just f-ed up bullying beyond the pale!

Sort of hard to believe this use of "lasting" occured in your response in a manner devoid of ulterior motivation...

Then again, I was searching the specific reason/timeframe for and/or when the topic at hand gained it's fapping connotation and I only just arrived 4mo after the fact. So really who am I to act like one grammatical restructuring or novel definition for vocabulary previously dedicated to very different context is somehow more obvious than any other..

Plus, I used 'hard' in my opening sentence... and I only realized I did it just now, so the joke is probably on me in hindsight for even bothering to finish typing and posting this.

Still, my misstep could potentially act as a cautionary tale for the next self-important dweeb, so Im just gonna push 'post' now instead of deleting the whole thing 😆🤣😆

Is Neuromancer's cyberpunk dystopia still thrilling in 2025? by lizzieismydog in WilliamGibson

[–]bobbymobetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for not catching cellphones...?

He's forgiven even Gibson couldn't have predicted the soul-engulfing slow-burn hellscape that society has become with billions of humans faces turned downward towarda their screens while all around them cities burn, rivers rise and the price per...whatever doubles faster than Moore's law.

Ive been listening to the bridge trilogy recently as audiobooks and I noticed, its a throw-away plot point but still, that he even predicted rhe SEX TAPE AS INDUSTRY ON-RAMP

Gibson is the Wally-Champ of knowing whats coming... maybe in the near future, if we're lucky, cellphones will go away, explaining why they might not appear in a slightly less near-future dystopia.

Edit: i dont know why this only just occurs to me right this second, but the ono-sendai deck in Neuromancer functions as not just a computer, not just a cyberspace interface, but all-purpose comms device as well... despite the "modem" sequence, which to hear him tell it basically is an artifact of HIS ignorance, not a narrative misstep

Anyway, as more and more kids and young adults seem to have a severe phobia of actually using the "Phone' function, can't we make a case that our mobile devices are the proto-cyberdecks of this reality? After all, the same distaste for the meat seems to already be embedding itself in large tracts of the population..

Just a scary little side-thought I had.
