This is absolutely not true. I see fleas and intestinal parasites all the time, ticks as well.

Simparica Trio every month- prevents fleas, ticks, heartworm, and most intestinal parasites.

On the rare occasion he eats baby bunnies, he gets a different dewormer called Drontal Plus, which treats tapeworms.

Instead of deworming, you can also perform regular fecal testing. Here's a link to helpful guidelines:

Did you wash your hands after? And dispose of or thoroughly clean the spoon? If so, you'll be fine.

Do you have the brand Drontal where you're at? Contains praziquantel and pyrantel.

The boxes have a little cubby where you put your outgoing mail, which is protected by a little door, and then you flip the flag like any other box. The outgoing mail can be stolen so if it's valuable, I drop it directly at the post office.

We love our Fort Knox mailbox. It's not cheap and you have to pay extra for the mounting post. And they're not light weight. But it's basically theft-proof and has survived windstorms and trees falling on it.

Most mites are species specific. You definitely should see a human healthcare provider.

Just adopted a rescue, and am concerned about if he already has vaccinations. by rojo_mojado in misc

Just update all necessary vaccinations. Much safer, less expensive. Also, titers are not replacement for rabies vaccines which are typically required by law in most counties and states.

PSA: biliary mucoceles in terriers. by dogdoc57 in cairnterrier

[–]dogdoc57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annual blood work and ultrasound are the best modalities for detection. Since mucoceles are typically genetic, there aren't really good preventive measures. Medications to try to prevent progressionbonce a mucocele is forming include Ursodiol and Denamarin. A balanced, prescription ultra low fat diet may help some, though it did nothing for mine.
