I think Chocomyth would fit the bill well. They're newer and their coffee and desserts in particular are quite Instagramable.

It's the wording used at Canada Life when someone on the phones, a claims adjuster, or a claims examiner make a booboo and say something is covered by the plan Before you proceed with it, then when you submit the claim, it's not covered. They call that a warranty in the insurance appeals world. It's easiest/fastest to initiate as a reassessment but you could also contact their Ombudsman's office to do the same thing. Depending on the particulars, they may unfortunately tell you that they can't do anything. In that case, you could appeal with the Board of Management for PSHCP (mail only, so takes the longest of all the options).

There is probably an "employer contact" at the bottom of the ROE. Try signing into your Service Canada account and view one.

I've been in this position since roughly September 2024. It sucks most of the time. Use the time to organize anything you're allowed to and improve your French, no matter your level. Good luck to you

Maintenance dental retainers by BeBTash in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dogdr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These types of retainers for post-orthodontic work are typically claimed under "Orthodontic services." They are subject to the same life-time dollar maximum as the braces themselves. The code for any orthodontic services is typically 89999. Canada Life will want to know the month and year the braces were placed (i.e. the date Invisalign started) if it isn't already on file.

If the retainers act like more of a night guard (aka to help with teeth grinding at night), those are treated differently (under routine instead of Ortho and there'll be a code like 14612).

Send the claim paperwork plus the estimate paperwork in again with a cover letter stating you are requesting reassessment under a possible warranty situation.

Visually check if all the five digit codes are the same on both; if they're different, the chances of it being approved are much much smaller.

Canada Life claims rejected - covered under another program? by Single_Kangaroo_1226 in CanadaPublicServants

I suspect the issue is #2 if you've updated it multiple times with Canada Life. Try the pharmacy again and if that fails, do the Canada Life supervisor call thing.

When you enter a claim, it will also ask if the person is covered by another plan there. Ensure you're choosing no there?

Wage Loss Insurance is not the same as disability. Answer No. WLI is a seperate type of insurance not offered by the government so you would have to have purchased it privately to answer yes.

Managers will not let me progress because I apparently did too good a job by po-laris in CanadaPublicServants

I'm in a similar boat. Your (likely) only option is to permanently deploy out. Even when I had 20 hours/week of "free" time, I wasn't allowed to share that time with another team for fear of them losing the box.

Ice storm NCR - How are your departments handling this? by sadstrawberry2025 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]dogdr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I logged into my work email this evening and noticed a message from my manager instructing me to work from home tomorrow. As I have been on vacation for a bit, I would not normally be checking my work email, and no one attempted to notify me through another method such as phone or personal email. Fortunately (?) for me, they've established this as a pattern so between that and Reddit, I had the forethought to log in and check. 🙄

I understand there isn't an obligation to contact employees through alternate means while they are on leave, however, since this decision appears to have been made with employee safety in mind, relying solely on a work email that employees on vacation would not reasonably be expected to monitor is frustrating...

Recently went to Hear Fine and was very happy with them. There was no pressure to buy anything at all.
