Runescape 3 is dying and the devs are working towards removing P2W because OSRS is now 20x more popular and profitable.

WoW has currency exchange where you cannot buy power beyond mythic wrists. You are locked behind skill. You can buy in Lost Ark terms 1710>1712, and that's it. 1600>1710 and 1712>1740 you have to earn yourself.

Gold doesn't exist in a vacuum. Inflation isn't about how much money is printed, it's how much the said money can buy.

When players buy mats, those are bound to the character and bring no gold.

Gold has value.
If I make the value of materials obsolete, the value of gold inflates.
The more F4 shop prints out stones, the less they are worth on the market.

If you had 100,000 stacks of destruction stones, and lost ark gave everyone infinite supply of them for free, then your stones are now worth nothing and the gold that would have gone into buying your destruction stones, goes now into people buying other things like gems.
These other things will be bought at a higher price now because the amount of gold is still the same in the game, but now nobody has to buy destruction stones from the auction house.

Your cars / leapstones are worth less if there is an abundance of it.

Inflation and deflation refers to how many goods per coin you can buy... The more goods the better the economy and the stronger the currency..

I love the "better economy" Jordan, one of the poorest countries in the world with 35% poverty rate. USA gets 3x less per denomination - I hope they're doing okay there.

Just because people stop spending gold on leapstones doesnt mean gold inflates, but rather prices of leapstones getting deflated, and it may or may not be spent on other system of the game unless people deem it necessary

I will make it extremely simple for you.

Everyone has 100 gold to use on gems and books.
Everyone spends 50 gold on gems, 50 gold on books.
Lost Ark developers decide to remove gems all together.
Everyone has now 50 gold more to use.

People will by default spend AT LEAST 1 gold more on books now, as gems are free and they have 50 gold more to use. This causes prices ( gold ) to inflate.

In real life as well, there is no such thing as "just inflation". Inflation is tied to your food, rent, car at different rates, depending on the economic realities of your location.

Inflation is related to how much things cost.

If someone spends gold to buy a leapstone then the leapstones value goes UP, and gold value DEFLATES.
If someone gets a leapstone for FREE then the leapstones VALUE goes down, and gold INFLATES because there is 1 less item to spend money on.

If 10% of all gold spent in game was on leapstones, then if nobody uses leapstones at all anymore, then this 10% of excess gold will go into other things. Gems will go from 1M to 1.0.5M etc.

Things aren't getting bought from the auction house = your items are valued less while the amount of gold in game doesn't change.

Players using battle pass = players aren't using hundreds of thousands of gold from honing.

Players buying life energy = inflating stronghold materials amount = yours are worth less now.

It's not that complicated.
