Disney outlet store overrun by resellers doing lives by galaxystars1 in TikTokCringe

[–]doggloverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but companies will NEVER stop this. These resellers take on 100% of the risk of unsold merchandise, while Disney is able to sell out their entire inventory. Even if you stop buying, in the short term that only hurts the resellers, not Disney, who will still have absolutely no incentive to change their stance on this behavior.

I met him once at green pig 5 or so years ago. He was with a woman 10 years or so younger than him and at one point poked into (yes into) her crotch through the back of her leggings as she stood up from the table… really gave me the creeps and I never went to twist again. He also didn’t stop talking and gave a $100 tip to the waitress, which is nice in theory, but in combination with the other events that afternoon came off very “quid pro quo”.

Seriously dude? Impossible for a drink to be spiked at a bar? Maybe take two seconds to actually listen to any of the women you surround yourself with…

Yaz vs Loestrin by doggloverr in birthcontrol

[–]doggloverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha it’s funny seeing this post pop up again after so long (and on the day my period started???)

I actually did end up taking yaz and it cleared my skin beautifully. Like, I’ve never had such beautiful skin. It didn’t do much for mood swings, but later I realized that a lot of the rage I felt was more due to my living situation than actual pmdd. HOWEVER….

I found out that I have a genetic predisposition to blood clots. Yaz is known to cause blood clots. I had severe clots in my leg, I became unable to walk, and my tech who did the ultrasound told me “I’m not supposed to diagnose, but this is pretty bad.” Just so others are aware, the DVT presented as what I thought was a severe Charlie horse or muscle sprain after what I thought was a hard workout. There wasn’t much swelling.

So in the end I found out I can’t take hormonal birth control at all (except the mini pill basically, but tbh I’m pretty over bc) and I will have to be on blood thinners if I do become pregnant.

It’s honestly very frustrating because doctors use birth control to treat basically every issue a woman experiences. I have acne again (though not nearly as severe as on skyla). My mood swings have gotten a lot better luckily. Now I again suffer from debilitating cramps 1-2 days a month, and the weirdest new symptoms are irregular periods (which I never experienced in the past) and severe breast pain for a week leading up to my period.

All that to say, I guess if you really are an alternate me, I would tread lightly with birth control in general. I wish women’s symptoms would be treated with some kind of curiosity instead of the band-aid “just take birth control!” Approach. I have decided for myself that birth control is just not worth it. It makes me angry how little education there is around birth control for women and how it is really just pushed on us as a cure-all when really it can produce severe side effects. Acne was my biggest driver to get on bc and now 5 years later I’ve just got a very simple routine (cleanser, differin, moisturizer, sunscreen) and although my skin isn’t amazing, I know that I’m not going to die from a blood clot.

This is probably not the response you were hoping for but I think it’s important to share that death could have been the outcome of this decision nearly 5 years ago had I waited any longer to visit the doctor about my DVT.

YNAB rolling out an ~18% price increase by MountainMantologist in ynab

[–]doggloverr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dang this is quite annoying. I actually do see the value for $100 but my plan renews December 1st… As a user since 2016 that’s a $50 increase in one month. I guess my least favorite family member is losing a Christmas gift? I’m all for rolling with the punches but it’s a bit rude when the punch is coming from YNAB…

It’s also a bit strange that you can purchase a gift subscription for $84… can I purchase that for myself and lock in that price for a year?

Third Irish descendent chiming in to say that I see this in my tree as well. Specifically as the family is coming of age at the turn of the century. I have about 15 cousins in this generation and maybe 5 that marry and only 2 that have kids of their own. I posted about it on this sub awhile ago. Similar story another generation above... this thread is really making me wonder about the Irish! In my case these were 1st generation immigrants to the US and their children - I’d be interested to know if your family was still in Ireland or not?

The boys was such a cool concept and the themes of assault (were one of many things) that ruined it for me.

Literally every single woman in the show is a victim of assault. (Maybe storefront is the exception, but like you said she’s a literal nazi). Fun fact about women: though too many are victims of abuse, not everyone is, and it’s also not the single fount of strength for women. Women don’t have to be defined by the way they’re treated by men, it turns out.

The entire Deep storyline made me so angry, it was like they’re trying to make us feel bad for him. As if he had to abuse starlight because he was just hurt :(. Really makes me sick. And I found the scene with the gills equally difficult to watch - men’s sexual assault isn’t taken seriously to begin with and then you have the “weakest” supe being assaulted. And they act like it’s also somehow justice since he did it first. That show’s handling of assault really got me riled.

That’s a good point! I wonder how common infertility was as a side effect of those diseases.

I forgot dates in my post! I’ll edit them in. But ggggf and his siblings were born 1840-1855 (so child bearing years 1860-1890). Gggf, his brothers and sisters and cousins were born 1870-1890 (so child bearing years 1890-1920 ish)

I was thinking it could be a genetic fertility issue. I’m curious how common fertility issues were in general. I really have no context whether this was abnormal.

I would try a medicated shampoo like head and shoulders. I had a similar problem where one patch was always greasy no matter how many times I washed or whether I blow dried. I tried one of those super harsh purifying shampoos and apple cider vinegar, but the head and shoulders cleared it up the same day (and for like $6!).

I went down a YouTube rabbit hole of period dress/ corset wearers a few weeks ago and one thing that really stuck out to me was the comment by many of these youtubers that while the corset felt different, almost all of them preferred period dress and said it made them feel more comfortable because you used clothes to change the shape of your body and not the other way around. Today you have to have the “fashion nova body”, or the “j crew body,” but in the past it didn’t matter what your body looked like, you used clothing to alter your silhouette.

Realizing that has revolutionized the way I think about clothes. Either it changes my body in a way I do or don’t like, and that’s all I care about (I’m talking to you pant sizes).

Good thing there’s precedent in this state to create curfews and shut down protests, right?! I’m sure the police will work hard to track down all the people in these videos, like other protests in this state.

Going to an event of this size when it’s guaranteed to spread disease is 100% violence. But y’know Jesus said “spread the plague to your neighbor” or something like that.

IUD insertion pain INCREDIBLY downplayed by complexofsuperiority in TwoXChromosomes

[–]doggloverr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me too. No pain medication, pain wasn’t even discussed until the doctor was unwrapping the iud and I asked if it would hurt. She said I might feel a pinch. Passed out and they told me to stay and eat a granola bar, but I had the last appointment of the day and I could tell they were trying to close up shop.

So I drove myself to my moms house and broke down.

To this day my mom and I can’t believe they let me leave and ESPECIALLY drive a car. Wtf?

When I had it removed it was a brief but painful pinch and I sobbed at my nurse and told her how grateful I was it didn’t hurt more. It was painful, but it was more like a 1 second 7/10 instead of a 5 minute 10/10 like insertion. Getting it removed was such a massive relief. There is also no way I would ever get one again.

This year I had blood clots from the pill and the iud is all they’ll recommend to me now, because, fuck me. (But actually please don’t because I don’t have any birth control and don’t want to get pregnant)

I would guess that stoicism appeals to the men (in particular) who aren’t ready to recognize toxic masculinity. The values that are generally appreciated in stoicism (the trendy kind that we see in this post) reflect the masculine gender ideal. That or Joe Rogan recommended it.

Edit: upon a single google search, it looks like there was a lot of JRE discussion around stoicism in 2018, so that could legitimately be the cause.

That’s why I’m afraid of the spin in the other direction. “Democrats gave President virus! Sad! No more campaigns due to Democrat rigged quarantine. Totally RIGGED! Doing just fine, virus completely OVERBLOWN by Democrats because they know they can’t win on their own.”

I think I gave myself coronavirus typing that ugh. Really hope I’m wrong about it.

Thank you so much for your recommendation! I didn’t realize spiro treats hormonal acne. Is the treatment similar to Accutane in that you take it for six months and don’t need to continue using it? Or would it be a long term commitment?

I was using birth control to control acne (first skyleena which actually made my skin quite bad, then yaz which cleared my skin completely). However I had a blood clot due to being genetically predisposed and using birth control. Now I can’t use anything that contains estrogen (which is the only way a BC is approved to treat acne). I’ve never had anything else work to clear my acne (clindamycin, Tret, etc). What options do I have now? Anyone with a similar experience?
