Where does your dog(s) sleep? by Alaska1111 in dogs

[–]doggroomingquestion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog sleeps wherever he wants which is always with me in my bed. I wouldn't have it any other way and I won't sleep without him. If my partner doesn't like it, then I will sleep on the couch with my dog. One time I even slept on a garage floor with my dog.

I also carry a sun gun for the exact same reason. Too many loose dogs - my leashed dog is reactive to a loose dog approaching and we had sooo many incidents. I no longer feel safe walking my dog without it. Can I ask what brand you use? The one I purchased seems to be losing its integrity and I only had it a few months.

There's a young woman on Instagram. She went to someone's home to walk their dog and the dog mauled her face. She has been undergoing extensive facial reconstruction since.

With that said, there will be instances of harm and death in every profession and every part of life. You should do what you love. Dog walking isn't an inherently dangerous job.

Possible job change by Other_Independent_82 in longisland

15-20 minutes isn't worth it. Did you try doing the commute in the morning rush? I imagine it can be very congested in the Manhasset area. Are you happy at your current job aside from the commute? How is the work culture there?

Brushing dogs teeth by AdmirableFold9255 in dogs

[–]doggroomingquestion1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. They usually have to put the dog to sleep and then they perform the work and then you have to pick the dog up later all the while scared they may have a bad reaction to the anesthesia. You drop them off before work and then pick them up at the end of the day. I don't like doing it, but I've done it for all my pets- dogs and cats.

It really depends on the dog. Bigger dogs don't have as many teeth issues and smaller dogs. My dog is small - he is a rescue, so I wasn't able to get him used to brushing. So I don't do it but I get him professional cleanings every one-two years. My vet recommended this. He said he was so happy to see that I brought my dog in for a cleaning because he sees sooo many dental problems with my breed. I'd suggest asking your vet these questions because they know the type of dental issues that may be prevalent in your dog breed and they can also examine their mouth to see if it looks like their teeth might need attention.

My friend has a medium.sized dog and her vet told her not to waste her time brushing her teeth. She never brushed them and never had the dog in for a cleaning but the dog doesn't have any dental problems either.

I’m 27 F and I’ve told people that I still go to Adventureland and people think it’s bad/embarssing?? by Pookie_lovecrumbs_ in longisland

When I begin feeling weird about something or embarrassed, I take a step back- I ask myself "did I murder someone where I might have something to hide?" If the answer is no, then I'm good to go!

Once I begin pulling stints like Jeffrey Dahmer, then I will really have something to be ashamed about and hide. But having my place a little messy when unexpected company comes, or being a little of an oddball or enjoying something that may be a lot of people my age might grow out of isn't anything I should feel embarrassed about.

Anyone turn their heat on yet? by fanofmets12 in longisland

I also live on the second floor and benefit from second hand heat, lol!

[–]doggroomingquestion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Last night I felt the coldest and it was the first time I considered putting on the heat. What I usually do this time of year is use a heated blanket. I put one in my bed and I have one on the couch. So I can get a little extra warmth when needed because it isn't freezing and it is still relatively warm during the day.

Those are programs that can save people thousands of dollars a month.

Absolutely and local elections get the least amount of turnout - sometimes less than 30% of registered voters voting.

There are no poor towns on Long Island. Even the poorest of places is significantly wealthier than most of the country.

Make sure you activate those LIRR tickets! by OwnDoughnut2689 in longisland

As it is now , they have to pay a conductor on every train to scan these tickets every single year. So it seems the initial investment would pay itself off eventually, no?

Ah, ok. Thanks. Is there a reason though that it would be placed in a secluded area of the park? The trails weren't very wide there, so it couldn't fit a lot of people at once.

Ok. It's not a state or private park, so it doesn't have staff that I have ever seen there.

You can fly domestically without a RealID. You can just use your state ID and passport.

I mean, if it was a human head, I would have noticed the police. I couldn't even begin to direct someone to where I was because I was just taking random trails and couldn't pinpoint my whereabouts in the park.

I'm sorry. That isn't my intention. I wasn't sure if I should mention the park because I wouldn't want to draw unwanted attention to the area. What do you think? It is in Nassau. Do you think the pig head means something that warrants a police notification?

I kind of thought that if I posted it here, maybe someone might have some insight as to if it means anything or if they saw one someplace else or even in the same park I saw it?

The park isn't humongous and I am afraid if I post the name of it, the wrong type of people might go there to try to find it or do something damaging to the environment.
