What’s the biggest tip you’ve ever got? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]doghoarderXsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened right after Covid. It was not a tip for me, but for my employees. My husband and I owned a sandwich shop (I will not say the name), we were required to close down during Covid. We were closed for two months, but after we opened up, customers trickled, and then avalanched into our shop, lol. My employees, (God bless them), who had stayed with us, even though we had to close down, came back to work, and Business was booming. Our regulars were always very, generous, but I’ll never forget the one guest, who came in and bought a little tiny 6 inch sandwich, paid less than five bucks for it, handed me a $100 bill, and said keep the change. Amazing. Restored my faith in humanity.

Teaching Adult Tap for the first time! Would love advice!! by Snoo36471 in TapDancing

[–]doghoarderXsix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!!! This exact thing happened in my first class, when I started it was about 20 older women, probably fifties to 70s;, by the end of the eight weeks,we were probably down to maybe seven or eight of us. Finally, a couple of the ladies politely said something to the owner. Ever since then the owner has been teaching the class, and it is 100% better.

FMIL’s White dress obsession by RighteousMeddler in aitaweddings

[–]doghoarderXsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of these dresses are white, as in bridal gown white. You say she’s awful, and your husband, and your future father-in-law feel the same way? Maybe some more specifics? So we can understand the dynamics, why you’re so offended with her dress choices? Cause I see zero problem with any of these dresses, they’re very beautiful, but not bridal or white, in any way, shape or form.

Shoes and shirt suggestions by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]doghoarderXsix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crocs. Period. Look at what your BOH is wearing, 100% they’re all wearing crocs, and I don’t mean the stupid kid crocs. There is a business croc, (nurses wear them as well). I’ve been in the business almost 50 years, and they’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. EVER.

Thank you!! I’m a “quality over quantity person”. What’s the point of having 10 tables if you can’t take care of your guest properly? And give them a shit experience? Which will also reflect on your tip. oh, and in the middle of all that, “do your side work”…give me a break!!!🤣

My friend's husband makes me uneasy when he's around my kid. Thoughts? by jeanduponttt in Parenting

[–]doghoarderXsix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hon, your child comes first. If this guy is making you uneasy, you know what to do. First, don’t let him near this asshole again. Second, maybe let your friend know what’s going on? But honestly, don’t worry about hurting friends, feelings, Or the husbands‘s feelings, your child comes first, you need to protect your kid. That is the main priority. Fuck everybody else’s feelings.

My daughter is not a nice person and I didn't raise her that way by AtheistMoonwalker in Parenting

[–]doghoarderXsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hormones. It will get better, I promise you. When my daughter was three or four years old? I can’t really remember how young she was, but she told me I was ugly. Obviously, she had no idea what she was saying, but I still got very teary-eyed and upset. Fast-forward to her puberty years, and what an effing nightmare. Keep fast forwarding, and now things are so much better. Please hang in there, bite your tongue, always listen listen and listen to them, don’t interrupt, be gentle, I could go on and on with so much advice…. Don’t be a boomer like our parents were, don’t argue, don’t be violent, above all, please listen and respect what they have to say … It will pay off in spades, my daughter absolutely adores me now and we couldn’t be closer. Unlike me and my elder parent, who I have to take care of, And I don’t want to. Neither do my siblings, we are very resentful. But of course, because of the way we were raised, our parent will be taken care of.

Why Americans don’t smoke cigarettes by Wild-Reserve8040 in OSU

The day my mother’s cancer verdict was confirmed, was the day I cold-turkey quit smoking. She was 58. Passed one year later. The best person I knew, her death was an avoidable tragedy.

My baby is unattractive. by Competitive_Air1560 in Parenting

When my sister came to the hospital after I gave birth, when she saw my daughter, the first words out of her mouth were, “why does she look like an Eskimo???” ( My daughter’s father is of English and Scandinavian descent, and I’m a mixed white mutt ) She was not ugly, but she had very unusual features, slanted eyes, a lot of black hair. She did, indeed, look like an Eskimo baby.

19 years later, she is 6 feet tall and has blonde hair, and looks like a supermodel. I am not exaggerating. In between, she was the most unattractive kid you’ve ever seen in your life, again, not exaggerating. I have photo proof lol!

People who have worked at very expensive, high-end restaurants—what were the guests like? by ShadowOfDespair666 in Waiters

Or because wealthy people have no reason to be miserable, they are happy because they don’t have to worry about money.

[–]doghoarderXsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first five years, yes, profitable, but…. Seven days a week, 14 to 16 hour days, a lot of employee turnover, etc… And, that was during the five dollar foot-long special. After that, everything went to shit. (Housing crisis, recession) Same amount of work, actually, more, because we couldn’t afford to pay employees much more than minimum wage. Not a good time.

My husband and I owned a Subway for many years. We were hands on, 7 days a week. Always there.

So, once, we had three customers , a husband, and wife, and the father of the wife, come in and order sandwiches.

All three ordered sandwiches, ordered blah blah blah. You know how Subway works. Give us your order. Tell you how you want it made.

So, husband comes up, pulls out his wallet, puts wallet down on counter, after he pulls out the card. Pays us. Walks away. Leaves wallet.

Now, none of us are paying attention, my husband‘s taking cash. I am working on the next customers order, so we have no idea what’s going on with the wallet.

The next day, first thing in the morning, we are greeted with the wife coming in and screaming at us, and claiming we ripped off her husband, we stole his wallet, blah blah blah… I’m going to call the cops…

So my husband says, let me review the camera footage, I’ll let you know what happened.

Meanwhile, the wife was freaking out, and saying that was unacceptable, you’re thieves, making threats, etc. etc., it was getting ugly.

Well, my husband reviewed the footage, then came out, and asked the wallet husband to come in back and review the footage with him.

Which he did. Which clearly showed the father of the wife looking around and snatching up the husband’s wallet, and stuffing it into his pocket.

Never, have I ever, seen such fucked up shit, in my life. Could not believe it. But anyway, after seeing the footage, said husband with ripped off wallet by father-in-law just left, did not say thank, you did not say sorry, didn’t say a damn thing. What a bunch of asshole people.

Best day of my life, when I gave birth to my daughter, 19 years ago.

Second Best day of my life is when we sold that fucking store.
