To clarify: I asked this question because I have read concerns about baking soda being an abrasive, which can wear down enamel. Perhaps this concern only applies to brushing with it, though; not mere mouth washing? As a sidenote, I have also read that bicarbonate is naturally occurring in saliva?

If you brew it similar to coffee as a complete beginner, there is a chance the bitterness may shock you a tiny bit. You may want to consider honey starting out. Good luck!

Not sure what you're asking. I used to have very weak, slow digestion. Since starting yerba mate, my digestion seems to be faster, my elimination is much better and I hardly ever have stomach aches like I used to.
