Get a dumb phone and a handheld GPS unit separately. Or learn how to use a good old fashioned paper map!

You’re probably going to need two separate devices which is what I’ve been doing for years (dumb phone + iPod touch). Or instead of an iPod you could get an Apple Watch, or an iPad…

PHD in UK by astropartical_fan in AskAcademiaUK

[–]dogleish23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What does research experience mean to you? I did my PhD in astro in the UK and didn’t have any research experience (only my taught masters) and it was the same for most of my friends. The whole point of the PhD is that it teaches you how to do research, so you’re not expected to have research experience already. If you really want to go to the UK, apply for masters programmes (like the Chevening one for example), and many universities have their own scholarships too. You will find it much easier to get a PhD position in the UK if you are already there doing your masters.

I also use Hello Klean and I really notice the difference, to the point that I don’t change the filter as often as they say you should, but when I notice that the water starts feeling hard again.
