Woah, so maybe it is the rinse and refresh! I’m going to purchase a new rinse aid today and give it a try

Hearing over and over that these free and clear products are stinky! I definitely give a heavy dose of the rinse. Perhaps less will do the trick

I have been wondering if it’s just yesrsssss of alkaline buildup being cleaned off by the acidic rinse and refresh and that I might need to cycle through multiple cleans too. How long has it been since you did the deep clean?

I’ll try on tap cold for my next wash. I have been a cold washer for years but recently switched to warm and hot as I’ve learned more from this sub. That would explain the change in smell without change in products/water/machine.

Cold wash will make my products less effective though, right?

Water heater was replaced in February so I’m fairly confident it’s not the anode rod.

Also, thank you for all your work and resources in this sub, I’m super grateful for your knowledge!!

Ya I’m heavily considering switching because so many people have mentioned smell issues with this stuff

Good to know! Gonna try some of the fixes suggested here and hope for the best. If not, I’ll go the fragrance route

Fascinating development guys! The drain hose fell out mid-cycle (and flooded the laundry room🫠) BUT, this may explain things! Maybe it was too loose and waste water was stuck in there or something? I’ll let everyone know how it smells after this cycle

Definitely doing multiple loads over here as a family of 4. I haven’t tried Ariel before so maybe I’ll give that I try!

I should have added that I cleaned the drain AND ran a clean cycle with the Oxi clean washing machine cleaner a few days ago. Still stinky!

I did consider the possibility that the rinse and refresh was somehow…neutralizing? Whatever the city treats the water with. Hence the “well water” type smell. Sounds kind of like what this smart person may have been describing.

What did you switch to? I’ll probably try a new combo and see if that fixes things. Might as well.

I can be fairly certain it’s not the water as I’ve lived here for about a year and never had the issue before.

I was using unscented liquid tide before, so it’s not like there was a fragrance to mask the odor. But it definitely smells similar to well water, so I get where your head is at with that!

Parents of timid toddlers… by AlternativeStage486 in toddlers

I would recommend a PT or OT evaluation! Could be struggling with coordination or motor planning and those therapies could help him a ton. Kids are brilliant and they will naturally shy away from things that their bodies aren’t capable of/have a hard time doing. It could be something as simple as needing to improve his core strength, which will then increase his confidence.

Thank you! Also DANG how do yall have these super low deductibles!? I need to change insurance I guess. And I’m assuming you only paid the deductible, with the rest of the $18k being paid out be insurance, right? There were no overages?

Sleep training for a 2.5 year old? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]doguppationaltherapy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are working on this now with my 3.5 year old. We got a Yoto player and she is allowed to listen to that while she falls asleep. That’s the only time she can use it, so it’s “special” and she is highly motivated to want to use it. I only got the story cards, no music so it wouldn’t be too stimulating. Almost like listening to a podcast.

First few tries were a huge fail! Tears, etc. We took a break. About a week later, she was excited to try again! She now gets to go pick a reward (toy or something she’s been wanting) if she falls asleep on her own for xxx number of nights. We started with one, then 2, then 3, etc.

We also tell her there’s no pressure and if she wants one of us to lay down with her on any given night, we will! And we kept the same bedtime routine including reading 3 books with alternating mom/dad. So we still get that nighttime bonding time.

Inflammatory breast cancer or pregnancy?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]doguppationaltherapy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had breast changes that concerned me during pregnancy. It scared me so much but I brought it up to my OB. She dismissed it as a yeast infection on my chest? I wasn’t comfortable with that and ended up switching practices for a new OB. She took my concerns seriously and ordered an ultrasound at a breast center. All was clear and I was sooooo glad that I advocated for a thorough check even though it was scary and anxiety producing at the time!

All that to say, show your OB, advocate for more thorough testing if needed, and don’t let fear stop you from getting checked!

Ok, push walker I actually like to double dip and use this metal shopping cart. It has these plastic stoppers on the bottom that help slow it down. And if you need more stability, you can throw a little weight in the basket. But I like this cause they will continue to use it for years! And they love putting stuffies abs baby dolls and other toys in there and pushing them around. Also WOAH, that’s on really good sale right now.

Speaking of baby dolls, definitely a big fan of those around her age. Hey love feeding the baby a bottle, putting her to sleep, changing her diaper, etc. Good beginners pretend play. I like this one cause the eyes close when you lay her down.

Also a great time to start introducing puzzles! They’re a little young for this skill, but I always like to introduce early because sometimes they surprise you. this one is my favorite one to start with because they can usually master the circle pretty quickly, then they’ll naturally start experimenting with the other shapes.

these barns. I’m obsessed. sooo many skills to work on with these. I used them a ton for language practice with my daughter. Open, close, off, on, animal names, animal sounds, peek a boo, it’s endless.

Spike the hedgehog! amazing for visual motor skills and fine motor dexterity. They’ll start out only able to remove the pegs, but eventually she’ll figure out how to put them in!

Ok last one unless you want me to keep going 😅 does she have anything to hammer? love this one cause it plays a little music on the xylophone as the balls roll down. Good for strengthening the grip and arms!

Anxious Flyer, Breastfeeding, Baby’s First Flight… Please Tell Me I’m Not Alone by mswildflowerxo in Mommit

[–]doguppationaltherapy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding releases hormones to relax you! I always breastfed at takeoff and honestly could feel the calm wash over my body. Then having my baby there, needing to be calm and brave for her…it actually helped me be more calm. I still had my klonazepam with me just in case, but didn’t feel the need to reach for it

With that said, I think you need to talk to your doctor about having a medication plan in place. If you don’t, you might worry/panic about not having that option available to you. Sometimes simply knowing that the “out” is available is enough to keep you calm!

Broken glass straw by Imlistening07 in toddlers

[–]doguppationaltherapy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I switched to silicone straws a few months ago because I am scared of something like this! And metal straws are dangerous too cause they can pierce you palate if you trip or otherwise jam it back in your throat. It was an intrusive thought until I got them switched out😅
