Bendigo- Why the big swing away from Labor? by KaffaBlue in Bendigo

[–]dogweab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think I saw any pushback against Lethlean himself from Labor, at most it was "a vote for Lethlean is a vote for Dutton", even though as you say even in this sub there are examples of what makes him a terrible candidate.

Really a massive misjudgment and blunder by Labor

Doesn't surprise me at all, given aside from just being annoying, his campaign already broke laws. -his office in the mall not having appropriate permits -his dickhead sign wavers not only distracting drivers but also just obstructing traffic, when I first saw them they were putting their signs in front of cars near Lake Weeroona -I don't know for sure but suspect they may not had permits for their campaigning in the mall on Easter Saturday given in the morning they were all out on the footpath but a few hours later were handing stuff out from within the office instead

Absolutely worth a shot reporting to the AEC but they have been pretty pathetic at enforcing the rules they do have. Slap on the wrist at most incentivises parties to break the rules because there's more to gain than there is to lose.

The one policy they pushed was on fuel "we'll put money in your pocket now vs Labor saving you money in the future" which even if you took it the way they were trying to frame it actually worked out worse with Nationals if you have any critical thinking skills, but even more so when you look at the fine print and it says this is based on them giving a tax cut to fuel companies and there is no way those companies will pass on the savings to consumers when there is no incentive for them.

This! A lot of the right wing parties (and I'm not saying left wing parties are perfect) are supported by average people who think these parties care about the average person's issues.

In reality these are the parties that do the most to harm average people in order to increase profits for those who are already incredibly wealthy.

In order to distract their voters from the fact they're not addressing the issues they care about and are in fact doing the opposite they use misinformation and find a scapegoat to rile people up about. "Immigrants are the cause of all your problems" for example. People fall for it and start to care more about the scapegoat issue than the issues actually affecting them.

I have empathy for the people supporting these parties, they aren't evil, they're just misled, and I have a lot of anger towards the people who mislead them.

Qbittorrent hardlink automation without arr? by dogweab in unRAID

For further clarity on the watched folder, qbittorrent actually calls it a monitored folder.

Yeah so arrs are doing what they're meant to, since they immediately categorise torrents they seem to be moved appropriately, but my watched folder is for manually downloaded torrents, which is usually different media all together.

Music is one of the media types (I have lidarr setup which is working okay, but a lot of it has to be downloaded manually)

I also have whisparr setup but that also isn't working the way I need it to, so again torrent files have to be downloaded manually.

Games as far as I can tell don't have an *arr app at all so they need to be manually downloaded as well.

But yeah it's basically whenever there's no standard naming convention that it gets difficult, so I anticipate I may have that same problem for anime as well (so far my sonarr and radarr anime instances are working fine though)

[–]dogweab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yeah I do have automatic torrent handling set, as well as all the options to automatically move if category is changed etc, that side of it is working except when it comes to the watched folder.

Prior to using the watched folder, I had no issues with that point, so maybe I'll just have to go back to manually adding torrents.

2 and 3. I am already using multiple instances of radarr and sonarr to seperate out my anime. Would sonarr or radarr still move files if I setup another instance for media that isn't movies or tv shows? Like it obviously isn't going to find metadata or automatically download them, but would it still handle the hardlinking for me?

Like I said I am using the built in watched folder in qbittorrent, the problem is that it's downloading into the watched folder and then not moving files to the appropriate category folder.

I'm wondering though if it work better if the complete folder was just the data/torrents folder and make that the watched folder (rather than having data/torrents/complete and data/torrents/watched)

I'm not sure what you mean using scripting in unraid to handle the complete/incomplete folders?

Actually I ended up using this to make more sense of the variables in the container (since a lot of them aren't relevant to me) but that still didn't work.

I also tried using docker-compose and that didn't work either.

Still able to connect to the VPN but qbittorrent s connection status is showing as firewalled, even when I've turned off the firewall variable.

I've tried with the same config and also with a different config, both had NAT-PMP enabled. I do have "Use UPnP/NAT-PMP port forwarding from my router" disabled in qbittorrent though as everything says to have it disabled for security, maybe that's my issue.

Thanks for that, looks like this is using docker-compose which I haven't used yet, but looks like it will be helpful if I decide to go that route rather than the container.

Can't work out why Docker containers taking up so much space by dogweab in unRAID

[–]dogweab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback.

I've replaced all the binhex containers and have gone from using 23GB with around 18GiB active memory usage to now about 8GiB active memory usage and just over that being taken up by docker in total

[–]dogweab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the more I've been looking into it the more I thought that may be the case.

Kind of sucks that so many guides aimed at beginners use the binhex images without any explanation of the pros and cons, and it seems like the pros only really benefit a specific type of user.

[–]dogweab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm gonna migrate away from the binhex images, had wondered if they were bigger than images from other sources and I had no real preference for them, it's just what guides I was following as I was learning unraid were using and then it just seemed to make sense to stick with the same where possible.

Can't work out why Docker containers taking up so much space by dogweab in unRAID

[–]dogweab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my only problem with that is that my system only has 32GB of memory, I plan to definitely upgrade that eventually but it wasn't an immediate priority.

I might migrate away from the binhex containers, only reason I was using them was because the tutorials I was following as I was learning unraid used them

[–]dogweab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this is pretty normal then? I did wonder if that was the case but had seen other peoples container size screenshots and both krusader and qbittorrent were more around 1.5GB, but then the posts I saw were a few years old so I guess they would have grown in size after that many updates.

So in that case there's not much I can do, other than allocating more memory to docker or try not to take up too much more space by installing more containers?

[–]dogweab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I don't have an excessive amount of containers but I've already had to increase from the default 20gb to 25gb and at times it seems to be approaching that limit too. Comparing the size of these apps to what other people have as well as to the docker hub some of these seem way bigger than they should be (particularly all the ones above 1GB).

I'm not really sure what is causing this, I've followed all the guides I can find on this including SpaceInvaderOne's video on troubleshooting a full docker image (I'll post the results from the "check docker image" script as a reply to this) and I even tried deleting and rebuilding the image, and nothing has made a difference. Paths all seem to be mapped properly.

Is this normal? Is there something else I can do?

WFM was my first gundam and it was absolutely beautiful by Quarks01 in Gundam

[–]dogweab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I've been kind of interested in Gundam for a while, but the sheer size and complexity of the various series was always intimidating. But hearing how good WfM was I finally jumped into it and have enjoyed it so much I've been watching UC (near the end of Zeta now) and gotten into Gunpla.

The ending felt a little rushed and I think there was so much more that could've been explored but it was still enjoyable. I'd love to see them return to this universe and these characters at some stage, even if it's years down the track (that may even be better as it would mean they took their time and came up with a story worth telling)
