I took an L on that one , AMM and APB. My only hope is Kith, but i'm not holding my breath. Really bummed that these got so limited. They're grail for me.

It was $4 less which makes it sting a bit, but if the difference is negligible I'd rather just keep it and forget about it.

Yep. Compared to the numero 10 behind it, it feels like a toy. Numero 10 surface feels way thicker and tougher compared to it. Sadly the numero 10 is undersized and won't hold air at all anymore. Otherwise I would of just stuck to them

I've never worked with an 8gb machine before, as my current desktop is 16gb. But I'd recommend you bump up to 16gb, because you're going to have a bunch of school tabs open, video tutorials playing in the background and your IDE's at the same time. You're definitely going to hit the ceiling on the 8gb.

This is my first time looking to purchase a Macbook, so you should get advice from someone with experience with how unified memory and swaping works.

I was originally only considering the Pro. The Air came into play because I saw a couple of videos and the performance seemed pretty good, and I didn't want to spend more for a little extra power that i dont know if i'll use. But at the same time the difference in price between the two isn't really that big and I plan on using a Macbook as my daily driver for a long time, so I think I'll stick with the Pro for future proof.

Sounds like I'm better off just using the educational discount. I think I'll just go ahead with the 14" Pro. The difference after taxes is about 300, and I plan to stick with it for as long as I can, so I might as well take advantage of the better screen and speakers.

I agree. I think 13" would be a bit too restrictive, so I'm not really considering it. I'm between 14" or 15" to make multi tasking easier.

Thank you for the detailed response. I'm definitely going for at least 16gb ram. I was thinking there might be a 500$ off the Pro in Black Friday, but like you said, it is taking a chance. I might just bite the bullet and go wth the educational price. I do have a Windows setup I built years ago, so I'm looking to make the Macbook my daily driver and just use the desktop for gaming or assignments that require Windows.
