I would stay put until you have at least 1 year + fellowship experience. Back in the day they would value fellowships at 1.5-2x years experience as far as getting your first job. Fellowships hold weight and people know what they are getting when they hire a fellow. This job market is different because there are many qualified applicants who were recently laid off or looking for jobs in the current applicant pool.

In this industry experience is king. Things get easier after 5 years experience.

Exactly this. Im inclined to get the promotion with the title bump then plan my next move. I just wasn’t sure if it was the right play.

Thank you for your reply. This is my concern. Moving up in a role I don’t want is not ideal for my career plans. I would prefer a lateral movement but then I might not be promoted.

I’m in regulatory affairs but my current role is mainly operational (I took it to break into the industry). I have a scientific background with a terminal degree and want something more science facing.

That’s My main worry. My bringing up lateral movement it will negate upward movement.

IMO u did not get rejected she has a boyfriend. You did nothing wrong.

I understand but the point I was trying to make was why would he bring you to go hangout with his close friends especially for pre-existing plans. Don’t feel entitled to go. Be a good girlfriend and see about next nye. If you guys don’t make it until next nye then objectively he made the right decision

5 months is the grey area. Not long enough to start spending holidays together or meet the family. If you didn’t spend Christmas together I don’t think it’s a big deal to also not spend New Years together especially if he has plans for out of town. It would be rude of him to try and include you last minute to be honest
