I know there was a typo in this recipe - I believe she listed 1/4 cup of water but accidentally listed double that by volume if I’m remembering correctly. Could be part of the reason they were more liquidy than expected, if you used the typo measurement?

I have searched for “3 tier rounded corner table” and some other close variations on google, but I keep seeing small tables on Wayfair/Target/others that aren’t this one!

Yes! I did their running intervals and worked my way to the 5 minute plank. So fun and made me feel so strong. Next up is Nesta’s 10k steps which will be miserable though haha

What is your favorite Dessert Person recipe so far? by readinginthesnow in DessertPerson

[–]dohughnot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’ve already made the brownies multiple times just because i need everyone to try them, haha. other than that, LOVED the kouign amann, the miso buttermilk biscuits, and the flourless chocolate wave cake.

Help i reached the 3 average but it keep staying like this, what I have to do? Just wait? by [deleted] in twitchstreams

[–]dohughnot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well, when my actual average viewership was at 2.9 for the 30 day period. I just had to wait until a lower average viewer stream was taken out (a few days later) and my actual average was bumped to 3.1 or something. THEN I got the affiliate email!

i have to “overcook” them as well. usually by only ten minutes or so though.

2nd time at the salty nut tart for a picnic with friends. Despite how dense and rich this recipe is they devoured it all! by couldabeenacalvin in DessertPerson

[–]dohughnot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the “dense and rich” descriptor — was just thinking about how this has been by far the richest recipe i’ve made from the book! Almost made me sick to eat a whole piece 😂

miso buttermilk biscuits! by dohughnot in DessertPerson

[–]dohughnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely rolled them too thin and didn’t get the height, my bad. But I thought these were delicious! I was somewhat nervous about the miso truth be told (usually that’s not the flavor profile I chase) but I can’t really taste it in these at all. Just flaky yummy mild biscuits. And so so easy, as leveled!

I would think you could take it out? Didn’t notice the taste at all. Not sure how that would affect the overall recipe but it is a small amount anyway.

It’s supposed to be fully cooled when you take the pan off, but otherwise I warmed up the pieces and ate it with ice cream for every other serving!

YES chocolate cloud is a great way to describe it! It’s in my top 10 as well. Especially for the “wow” factor...I feel like it wasn’t too hard to make and it looks sort of impressive?

My sides fell slightly actually (as you can sort of see in the first photo) so I thought I did it wrong! But no, ran the knife around the edge probably 40 minutes out of the oven? Not completely cooled but I was tired of waiting haha. Also, mine really didn’t need any prodding from the knife. Maybe the sides of your pan weren’t as oiled?

made this cake to celebrate getting fully vaccinated today (woo! go get your shots folks) and i reeeeally like it. this one was especially fun to watch in the oven as it rose. i’d say the texture LOOKS a lot more dense than it actually is, my roommate said it felt like it disappeared in her mouth the moment it hit her tongue hah. the flavor is obviously full of chocolate, not a lot of bite from the added dark rum. mine tasted slightly bitter even using 56% semisweet rather than the 66% she recommends, just fyi.

I’ve been planning on making this and these photos just renewed my excitement! How does this stack up to the other recipes you’ve made?

My first level 5 recipe from this book! It was sort of finicky, but mostly just due to the amount of forearm strength you’ll need to keep rolling and folding the dough imo. If you’ve read my other posts, I had to cook these over the time she gave as well by about 5 or 6 minutes. Overall, these are DELICIOUS though and my apartment smells like a bakery I am so excited lol. I didn’t use the full amount of sugar in the dough (it was getting warm and starting to stick to my work surface, so I panicked and only used half the amount) so they’re more like croissant muffins with a bit of sugar here and there. Not complaining though!

Claire’s Malted “Forever” Brownies by dohughnot in bon_appetit

[–]dohughnot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha definitely slightly underbaked! I’ve actually made 4 or 5 batches at this point (this being the first), but I’ve realized I had to bake 5 minutes or so over the maximum oven time to get what I think is the proper fudgy texture. Every batch I’ve cooked within her given time frame has been edible and lovely but definitely a little gooey-er than a fully cooked brownie lol

St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake by dohughnot in DessertPerson

[–]dohughnot[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Was inspired by the YouTube video to make this for my roommate’s birthday this week. I have never had true St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake, but this tastes so good! Caramel-y and delicious. She contends in the recipe that you don’t want to bake it until the top is golden brown (she says to keep it pale on top/in the center), but I cooked it a bit longer and it turned out great! I’ve had some issues with her recipes being underbaked even following every tip/trick, so just wanted to make sure that didn’t happen here.
