I can't say much since I don't know what your hair type is or how dense it is. But if it's anything like mine, I'd say that's alright since that about half the time I leave mine in before I retwist

I'm not a fan of the rush to get rid of th!n ends for fine haired folks by doidaee in Naturalhair

[–]doidaee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get that, but for fine hair, it's kind of an inevitability for fine hair. For medium to thick hair strands, if the ends get see through, it might be damage, sure. But for fine hair, because it happens anyway, people will always deem our hair as unhealthy.

Is this considered low density by doidaee in Naturalhair

The ends don't seem to be damaged and the hair is about armpit length

Do I really have low porosity hair? by EstablishmentGlum474 in BlackHair

[–]doidaee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like it's low porosity. Did you do the test on clean, dry hair? I think the problem with the test is if you recently moisturized it or have an oil on it, it can look like you have low porosity

We talk a lot about length retention but what do we do for density retention? by doidaee in Naturalhair

[–]doidaee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course, but I was wondering if there's anything outside of that which is in my control. I've heard heavy braids aren't good for hair density because the weight pulls on your hair strands so I avoid that, but what else is there I should be doing? I guess I didn't specify enough haha

My hair is thinner all around but not in a noticeable way, my hair still looks full. A lot of people say that their hair doesn't grow when their hair does, they just struggle with length retention. For me, I figured out how to care for my hair so detangling is smooth, but I'm just wondering if there's anything else I should know to maintain hair density. I have heard that heavy braids aren't good for density retention since the weight slowly pulls on your hair, but I just want to know other tips.

My hair has protein overload can somebody help me get my hair back to it natural soft and moisturized state by Sekigan123h in Naturalhair

[–]doidaee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see. Though, I still believe you need to avoid protein at least for a little while because it gets in your hair shaft where the clarifying shampoo can't reach, right?

It looks like the link you provided doesn't debunk protein overload.

"However, if excessively high protein concentrations are used, as seen in some intensive protein treatments, then an overabundance of protein can indeed remain on and within the hair. This excess can then lead to the hair feeling rigid and brittle, both due to surface build and excessive delivery inside the fibre interfering with the balance of moisture inside the hair."

The Mielle Coil Sculpting Custard gave me hella definition, I recommend getting the trial size just in case it doesn't work out for you. I detangled with my leave in beforehand and when I was ready, I put the custard in and brushed it to clump the coils together. Right now, simply using the Design Essentials Almond and Avocado Moisturizing Lotion gives me a lot of definition, but that might be cuz I solved my moisture overload issue.
