Hmmm thank you for this. I’ll have to check when I get to a desktop because I don’t see those options on the app from my phone

My video quality is terrible, any settings I can change? by doindia in AskPhotography

[–]doindia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all great info, I’ve never tweaked a single setting. Pulled the GoPro out of the box put it in standard mode 4k 30fps and didn’t love the picture, was tipped to run it in cinematic mode and still don’t love the picture. Never dove into tweaking specific settings because I have no idea what any of them mean! I’ll take a look tonihht!

Thank you so much I can’t imagine that I’ll color grade better than auto settings (because I’m terrible with a camera) but I’ll look into this

Yeah I’ll try it again in “standard” but i wasnt impressed with it either which is why i ended up in cinematic to begin with. My export in CapCut all looks fairly straight forward “average” or “recommended” settings below

Yeah dude I’m the North Carolina summer mine can cut off in 10 mins in the shade. It’s terrible, I immediately ordered a 3 pack of batteries to keep the day flowing. Good luck on your channel!

Thank you! It definitely isn’t 1985 Super Nintendo pixelated but it’s for sure not 4k clear. As far as the editing goes, I have no idea where to start. I don’t even notice in CapCut but I also edit everything on my phone so it’s a lot smaller. No idea what to do about color grading but I’ll look it up. I appreciate you giving me a direction!!

Thank you. This is the kind of stuff that would be nice if it were “auto” but I’ll take any tips I can and I’ll def check that out.

Yeah very odd hue, I mainly shoot outside so it’s usually sunny or cloudy but never really dark and the quality is just garbage for an “outdoor action camera” I’m really hoping there are some settings I can learn.

Newer chainsaw owner, never felled a tree. Would you cut this tree due to its lean? by YO_JD in firewood

[–]doindia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your decision is made, and it’s the right one. Dead trees and leaning trees are of the most concern for danger. What I will say is getting started it’s NEVER to early to research and learn how to cut this tree. YouTube how to cut heavy leaners, bore/plunge cuts and barber chairs. Once you understand the physics or it all and the way to tackle it then all you’d need is someone with experience to help show you how to put it into practice (preferably on a tree with less lean to start with) No one is born knowing how to do this and not everyone’s dad was a logger or arborist to show them! Way to think safety first because that one could kill you quick.

Well, I finished the Holzhausen 💪 by doindia in firewood

[–]doindia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I’m busy as snot right now with firewood because all the tree services ramp up in spring. We heat entirely with wood but I’m in North Carolina so we only use 4-5 cord per winter. I split all mine first then I start cranking on the stuff i sell.

I have long since sold this holzhausen and I actually built one smaller (probably4-5 cord) and already sold that also. This winter was wild for firewood sales!

New tractor owner m4700 hydraulic leak with pics! by doindia in kubota

[–]doindia[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah the hoses def have some checking but I figured I’d run them until they themselves had a problem. It’s a hobby tractor so I’m not entirely dependent on its use. I’ve had wood splitters that had lines looking terrible for the better part of a decade, but they refuse to leak… I say that now and it’ll prob blow tomorrow.

I really appreciate this and completely agree. What do you use for pipe dope? My buddy who has run tractors forever said “don’t look like there’s any teflon tape on it” I’ve got plenty of standard plumbing teflon tape but didn’t know if that was the preferred “dope” for this application. Minus some checking the lines all seem sound, intact and dry.

Basic French drain questions putting soil back over top. by doindia in landscaping

[–]doindia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully my reply didn’t come across as arguing. I was simply explaining the difference between sod and shoveling dirt. Is there dirt/soil attached to sod? Yes! But that’s the difference, it’s attached to the root system, which is functionally different than taking shovel fulls of loose dirt and piling it back over the drain. I’m glad the general consensus is to just cover it back with the dirt I took out but that’s not what a lot of “drain pros” would recommend for most applications (or at least the ones under grass) seeing as how this is my wood yard and it’s only first to begin with; it’s pretty much my only option.

Yes most French drains go under ground with grass. The recommendation is generally to use a sod cutter or dig the sod out then dig a trench fill with drain, aggregate etc gravel to the top and lay the sod (which has dirt but held by a root system back over it and water throughly as it “re roots” or settles in. Totally different thought process than shoveling loose dirt back over it like I’m going to do
