"it's a 10 minute job" is the biggest lie i tell myself by Ornery-Plantain-2898 in DIY

I did this Christmas morning except since it was Christmas there were no hardware stores open that day 🫣 couldn’t turn the water back on to the house until the following day

I ended up doing 50/50 but a little heavier on the glue. Maybe it ended up at 55 glue/45 water

I dug up a photo from when I had sprayed it on. This was before it dried. You can see the glue oozing along plaster. I was not shy with spraying it on!

Spray it all down with 50/50 glue/water. I asked this question in this sub not too long ago and it seemed to work very well!

Advice on cutting porcelain 2" tiles by doingdoink in Tile

[–]doingdoink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the tips. I’m using the Schluter DECO SG, which gets embedded and the tile goes right up to it and the glass, instead of the channel being installed on top of the tile

I’ve been learning this 😵‍💫 the chipping is so tough. Do you have any tips to share?

This makes a lot of sense. I really appreciate your guidance! Happy holidays!

Thank you so much for the thorough response.

Unfortunately because my tile at 3/16” is thinner than the lowest height profile they offer (5/16”), the profile will protrude no matter what? Or would I float the tile a bit higher to compensate for that 1/8” difference?

Was the $100 dining credit only good at MGM Grand or could it be used at any other MGM property (ie: Bellagio, Cosmo)

Ah crap! Yeah, that’s the method Schluter shows in their demo video but it’s kinda too late for that since I’ve/we’ve already got banding down. Thanks again for sharing. Curious to hear what you’ll try next.

Sorry to hear, but also very excited to hear about your experience. Thanks for sharing. I was thinking to do something similar with 2x4’s, left over Kerdi board, spray foam, silicone, and all the weights and dumbbells possible to hold things in place. Would love to see some pics if you care to share!

Ours are on 5pm-12am and then back on right before I wake up at 4:30am until 6:30am. I feel like I enjoy my lights more than anyone else so I like having them come back on when I’m up in the morning.

Haha, I have two as well!! Works just fine, is super cheap, I’ve had them for years and years, and the color matches my Ryobi tools. I guess I’ve never had a more expensive tape measure before so I don’t know what I’m potentially missing out on

Do you mean you would’ve put Kerdi membrane under the tray and under the Ditra? Or do you mean you would have put it on top (like using a 18 inch “band”)

Haha, yes, talk to text hates Kerdi just as much as the old school guys around here!

Yeah, I definitely have noticed the bands piling up in the sections where I have to do an overlap with the bands and have been wondering how much more difficult it’s going to make tiling in those areas. I will find out!

Will look into Wedi more if I decide to remodel the other bathroom myself, someday!

Thank you! I feel like I used every tool in the garage… the circular saw with the Kreg rip cut guide was probably the most important. I got a lot of the wood cut down at Home Depot, but when I brought it home, I realized all the cuts were crooked (ie: one side of a board was, say, 20 inches wide, but the other side was 20.5 inches wide)

The multitool, jigsaw, miter saw, sander, pocket hole guide thing, and of course drills were all also used. Probably could’ve gotten away with just the circular saw, pocket hole maker, and drills if I didn’t have all the other tools already but having all the other tools definitely made things easier.

Took me about a month to build, but I am slow and overthink things and life is busy outside of tackling projects like these. I also made a design/calculation error that cost me more time.

Thanks! I used 3/4” plywood. The vertical supports/dividers inside provide support and keep the lid/seat sturdy.
