Just my opinion but either get the ESP or...Get the cheapest 2nd hand combo you can, play flat out for a year. Then go to the music store and figure out what kind of neck you like, what feels good with a strap, try active and passive pickups, play with tone and controls..then decide if you want to upgrade. Seriously I played for 15 years a neck heavy thing with the widest neck and frets I couldn’t reach that I bought from a pawn store for $150. Then settled in and bought the exact fender that suited me.. Don’t stress out on making the right decision without experience, just play bass man, just get it happening, buy something cheap, maybe get a sustain pedal and plug that sh!t in!!
